He can't be talentless surely, he is successful at Radio 2 in both the drive time and early morning slots
If they put Harpo Marx in them slots the show would still be successful.Phil Dicky said:

At the time of Wogan there was a strong competitor in Chris Moyles, the fact that when Radio 1 imploded and basically ended up catering for no one over the age of 21 left Evans with a captive audience.
You do realise that Evans was on Radio 2 when Moyles was on Radio 1? Evans had more listeners than Moyles and Wogan previously. He had the listeners before Radio 1 "imploded".
Captive audience? You really give people so little credit of making the choice to change a radio station? All those other DAB and FM stations and hardly anyone has the ability to think for themselves?

How excited would your eight year old selves be to know that when they grew up they would be arguing about a DJ on Christmas Day?
What a time to be alive!
My wife's working a 12 hour shift in A&E. Other than prepping dinner, I've nothing better to do, now that the dogs been walked. What a time to be alive!
I can't even listen to Chris Evans on the radio.
I was one of those who finally gave up Radio 1, aged 58, when Chris came to the breakfast show. But I really used to like Moyles..
I thought that CE’s show was brilliant - I would never have listened to Terry Wogan. It was only when he tried to resurrect TFI Friday, Top Gear and then tried to turn the Friday morning show into a competitor to Graham Norton, that I thought the show went seriously downhill. Nauseating kids and Mascara moments turned it into driveling tosh. Which was quite sad.
I really hope that Zoe gets the show back on track. Most people only need some background entertainment while they are busy having breakfast and getting themselves / kids to work / school.
As a retiree, there is a lot of pleasure listening to a Ken Bruce, who still puts music at the centre of his show, with short interludes for listeners comments. A cup of tea during PopMaster is one of life’s simple pleasures.
Radio does not have to be Wam, Bam, Zap.

I imagine we'll have to put up with stories of her children and associated family matters to an even greater extent than even CE managed when Zoe Ball takes the helm. Every comment seemed to revolve round 'Woody' and whatever he/she's been up to whenever I've had the misfortune to hear her. The same as that Fern woman who's now infecting the airwaves.I thought that CE’s show was brilliant - I would never have listened to Terry Wogan. You do realise Evans, Fern Cotton and Zoe Ball are the only people ever to have children or they would led you to believe they were.Sparky137 said:

A lot of people just put R2 on and leave it there .I.E. ,building sites, workmen, small garages etc
Does the audience fall when Vine comes on.
As soon as Ken Bruce finishes the radio in our workshop is turned off. Not one of us can stand Vine.Does the audience fall when Vine comes on.
Knowing the BBC they'll probably give Vine a show on 5 Live and get Evans back, offering him even more money and the added bonus that it won't affect his beauty sleep, four days a week because he wants friday off.

I can't understand the hatred for Evans.
OK, if you don't like him fair enough.
But he's car nut and considerably richer than yow, in fact he's got loadsamoney.
Good luck to him.
He’s plainly not a car nut. OK, if you don't like him fair enough.

He’s just correctly worked out, quite recently, that £30m in the garage gets you more attention, and more introductions to the right people, than £30m in the bank does.
