Adverts that make you wanna smash your TV set up. (Vol 2)
Discussion
Now that sport is returning i see the gambling companies have quickly dropped their "gamble safely" ads that were on during lockdown.
Watching an old Wheeler Dealers on Quest and there's just been a 2 minute long ad from Coral Racing supposedly telling a story about a horse race from beginning to end with all the different things that happened during it. Loosely tied in with how you don't have to bet on the race but can also bet in play on whether a horse makes a jump at a fence or not and ends by showing a guy at the finish line, with the winning horse & his mate looking at placing a bet on the next race.
Or is it actually that the race hasn't happened yet, because teverything you saw was the gambler running scenarios in his head over what to actually bet on. Pretty cringeworthy tbh.

The mozzarella ads with the scouser.........
Galbani? tbh all variants of their mini-ad where we're supposed to believe these idiots can see all manner of extra letters in the brand name so as they can't pronounce it correctly. Been getting my 'PH advert thread spidey' sense twitching for a while now.iandc said:
Zoflora have obviously done a volume discount deal with Sky News. Every advert break (of which there are many!) has the stupid disinfectant "poem" on. Driving me crazy.
Oh, it's "Zoflora", is it? I half-heard one of their ads on something the other night and thought it was a bit of a strange move, from margarine to disinfectant.Lazadude said:
Sky use targeted ads btw. The ads you watch on a sky channel aren't necessarily the same ads your next door neighbour etc would see.
That's also why the same ad repeats sometimes. They haven't got any other ads that "fit" the time slot and you as a target.
Isn’t it all beamed down from satellite? That's also why the same ad repeats sometimes. They haven't got any other ads that "fit" the time slot and you as a target.
How are different ads beamed at different dishes?

God our house must be filthy as it seems to be on every time I watch Sky!!That's also why the same ad repeats sometimes. They haven't got any other ads that "fit" the time slot and you as a target.

From a quick read-up, a selection of ads are beamed for storage on the Sky+ box, a specific selection of which are then played back according to Sky's marketing data on the account holder. How are different ads beamed at different dishes?

This.Your box stores something like an hours worth of "targeted" ads, all of various lengths. The Satellite tells the box to play a 30 second ad for "cars", and a 1 minute add for "health/beauty" etc.
The car one for example, say Ford buy advert space. Family A could be a high earner with no kids, so shows great purchase deals on a new mustang, Family B could be family with new born twins, so shows lease deals on a cmax. Both ways the advert is still for Ford, but much more effective.
Big data/advertising data is scary, especially when you see how effective it is and how much is spent on refining it.

Its not just sky that do it too, there's a reason you have to sign into I player etc (it's not about having a TV license...)
