Go Compare are trying to build a bit of a back story around their opera singing moustached bloke, to add some personality to their insurance advert. It makes a change from the bloke just singing go compare but is futile against the power of the meerkat.
They should have an Opera singing Meerkat to gently take the piss out of their competitor.cuprabob said:

Why are they all so bad these days? What's driving it? There was a time when prime time TV would actually feature a programme about Britain's greatest and best loved ads, fronted by Denis Norden or similar. Such a programme would be impossible now, unless it were for Britain's worst and most hated ads.
Could it be corporations (and politicians) think that by helping / associating with the most recently identified group that is subject to discrimination, they make themselves look good? Pixel Pusher said:
Thanks, I stand corrected. I would have sworn it was the guy who played Joey in Benidorn. cuprabob said:

I have no idea what any of them are selling.
Two of the three big comparison sites have lost the thread I think. Love ‘em or hate ‘em, you know where you are with the meerkats. But meanwhile:
- MoneySuperMarket’s ads have gone all weird and trippy, and feature for no reason at all now, a flying bull
- GoCompare don’t seem to know what to do with Gio Compario and so are trying every possibility, including now literally just featuring the singer who acts the part.
I’m guessing these have tested well - we are, after all talking about them - but my goodness they aren’t exactly art are they?

Just keeping them in the public eye. I went Go Compare on the car to get the £250 excess cover but overall, I find Moneysupermarket.com to be cheapest, even if only for a few quid.- MoneySuperMarket’s ads have gone all weird and trippy, and feature for no reason at all now, a flying bull

PLEASE can Nationwide be banned from TV advertising. FFS, I came pretty close to smashing up my telly last night.....
Add in all the banks... Halifax/Bank of Scotland, Lloyds, RBS all this “we’re with you...” bks is maddening, and also the number of times they’re being shown. Virtually every ad break has at least one banking ad - when they come camp in hand for the next government bail out they should be told to FRO, and reassess their marketing spending. Escort3500 said:

fking tt Rylan fking bd Clark, advertising Cinch, online car buying. Only seen it once and already made my piss boil!! I just want to bray his tooth filled face with the heaviest ball pein hammer I can find!!
Use a lump hammer on the talentless tt too please In all honesty, I was unsure if it was an ad for selling cars, or renting them, but if ever I’ve seen an example of a milquetoast, it has to be that simpering object Rylan.
If Cinch advertised a Lincoln Navigator for £95, I think that I’d pass, rather than deal with them.

At least Confused.com does what it says on the tin. I still have no idea what the ads or the product is about

Well there's a thing, I can be watching an ad for months, years even, without realising what it is for, well known high profile ads that we love or hate, and like to talk about. It can be quite amusing when the penny drops and I have my "Ah, I never knew it was for xxx,?" moment. So the advertisers have certainly done a great job in raising awareness...but, er, what was the product?Gassing Station | TV, Film, Video Streaming & Radio | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
