"Plant based", in everything.
I have a feeling I saw this mentioned before, but now every advert family or couple is mixed-race.
Fair enough, but I wonder why it's always white man & black woman, as opposed to the other way round?
Is black man & white woman offensive and I haven't had the memo?

The grey haired chap on the Over 50s live cover adverts makes me think of the Ameglian Major Cow from Hitchhikers as above as he seems to have a similar breezily enthusiastic attitude to his own mortality and obsession with his funeral, and leaving a couple of hundred quid for his grandkids. As for Halifax and their diversity, they had Howard Brown years ago, now its like the token whitey in adverts, it really doesn't matter but it seems very cynical by a lot of the companies, with a strong whiff of bandwagon jumping. A lot of the older ads that got recycled seem to have disappeared as well as they dont reflect the new way of doing things.
While I'm confined to barracks I'm watching a lot of daytime tv, and every other advert has some jovial 50-something happily telling their friends how much they're looking forward to their nearest and dearest not having to stump up for their funeral, as if they're planning a wedding anniversary or milestone birthday celebration.
And now we have the likes of Debbie McGee and Carol Vorderperson advocating these "funeral plans".
Makes one yearn for the days of Parky and his free pen.

Eamonn Fatman Holmes has jumped onto the Equity Release bandwagon, I see, telling old folk how to destroy their inheritance while he lives in a Surrey mansion of epic proportions.
Really, really annoys me how really rich celebrities endorse this sort of crap.
But he is suffering from poor circulation and has to respatulize his feet Really, really annoys me how really rich celebrities endorse this sort of crap.

The very worst one for robbing the financially illiterate is Vorderman. Pushing products with up to 400% apr ! Really, really annoys me how really rich celebrities endorse this sort of crap.
If anyone on this planet understands compound interest its her. Shameless when there will be people thinking "Carols good at maths she must know"
Oh and that lovely man Kevin Whately doing equity release, he is so nice on the telly you know, and he promises we won't get signed up if its not the right thing. (because there has never been any type of commission based selling financial scandal in history ever)

Baffled how he’s carved out a TV career as long as he has. (You can toss Lorraine Kelly and Kay Burley on that pile as well}.
Don't diss Lorraine! She was better than Adam Hills on Last Leg (which really is generally fairly dire these days). The new Asda advert genuinely surprises me. Dine in for two deal : £15. That's the kind of deal M&S have - I know which I'd choose!

Have we had the current Gousto advert? The music being OMD's Enola Gay.
No doubt the ad company googled the words "mothers little boy" and thought they had hit on the perfect song. I mean, 80s nostalgia, great tune, what's not to like?
Well, other than Little Boy being a direct reference to the atomic bomb dropped on Hiroshima. Just 66,000 deaths and as many people afflicted by severe illness. That's all.
Enola Gay, is mother proud of little boy today?
This kiss you give, it's never ever gonna to fade away...
These games you play, they're going to end in more than tears some day
Enola Gay, it shouldn't ever have to end this way...
On the plus side, they did actually use the original OMD track, not some feeble cover, and if it introduces a new generation to OMD's work then so much the better.
I shouted at the telly when I first heard that. Honestly though OMD had more about them than that. Can only assume they are struggling for money. Still the subject raised an eyebrow, much like the IKEA advert a few years ago which used ‘we are such stuff as dreams of made on’ from the Tempest, which basically boils down to ‘we’re all going to die’.
Not sure they think this stuff through sometimes.

I remember being at school and being unsure about a song called Enola Gay as didnt have a clue it was the name of the plane and in turn the captains mother, it was the eighties and a bit wary of anything with "Gay" in the title, who is this Enola and are they gay ? wasnt until years later I read about the original subject of the song. I remember a mate singing his own words to it "I know your gay, I bet you've bummed twenty blokes today" Pre internet, we just didnt know stuff by and large.
