It's not a documentary.
This is a great line. There are some right miserable gits on here. If I hate something I don't watch much past the first one or two episodes. I think whinging TV watchers are the 40 yr old version of teenage goths.

It's not whinging, it's annoyance that for the money they spent and the effort they put into it they could have made something far, far better. It really wouldn't have been difficult to have put right the glaring errors in the script.
I really hate those Bond films where we seem him shooting and shagging, but never attending an HR review, filing out his time sheet, doing a tax return and comparing gas & electric supplierssinglecoil said:

Watching a work of fiction requires "the willing suspension of disbelief".
There's suspension of disbelief...... a space ship moving at the speed of light, a man from another planet / dimension here to save us, sayAnd there's something we know to be true being portrayed in an impossible or highly unlikely way - a supposedly well trained intelligence officer sitting in a bush in tears twently feet from an assassin.... ON THE F**KING PHONE.....who then sets off at a trot....WHILE STILL ON THE PHONE
And don't get me wrong, I am a *HUGE* advocated of the suspension of disbelief principle.

But in the end it's a balancing act, how much BS the viewer is prepared to put up with in order to enjoy the parts they like. It's different for all of us.

It was this lack of seriousness, dappled with some acts of extreme violence and total disregard for any need to be believable that made me enjoy it.
Was different to the usual and it worked.
I'm the first to throw stuff at the telly when they get the basics wrong, but that's when I'm watching something that insists I take it seriously. I will if they do their job properly.
This didn't insist that. All it asked was I dived in and had a fun romp. As such, it was far easier to let things slide a little.

Funny this - I've just watched the last 2 episodes and I enjoyed it much more than the middle two. I must have been concentrating on enjoying myself rather than worrying too much about things. This didn't insist that. All it asked was I dived in and had a fun romp. I felt it became much more about the people and relationships at the end which could have been set in many different contexts. And that was the most engaging part.
Looking forward to the next series now

Have to agree. Cheapens the viewing experience. Shame, as the show definitely started out well, good lead actors, dark humour, nice music... for me the show padded out in the middle and towards the end, I did lose interest. Not a patch on Sharp Objects... by far and away the best show on TV this year, which also had a great female lead cast.

It's not meant to be a serious truly realistic portrait. And there's something we know to be true being portrayed in an impossible or highly unlikely way - a supposedly well trained intelligence officer sitting in a bush in tears twently feet from an assassin.... Everything about it screams that its a sort of funny, Japanese-y, manga-y, comic book brought to life series. Slap stick interactions with victims, funny, completely out of character one off lines, and big bold graphics in videogame style - it's hardly Band of Brothers!

Watching some interviews on YouTube and I didn't know Jodie Comer is from Liverpool. I think her performance really is very good the more I see of Villanelle.
She's been in a few progs already (Dr Foster, and the one where she is kidnapped for years and comes home), this is her best so far and has helped her show a really decent level of performance skills as the previous characters have been a bit annoying and unsympathetic.I quite like the way they are avoiding lots of Russian dialogue by her saying "I don't want to speak Russian, it's annoying" !
I've started watching again as i loved it the first around and found the music score spot on .

It was said to be a "comedy thriller" (or something like that - if that helps. And there's something we know to be true being portrayed in an impossible or highly unlikely way - a supposedly well trained intelligence officer sitting in a bush in tears twently feet from an assassin.... Im guessing most dont know it comes from a short story? I must admit I haven't seen the show, I did read the premise of one and thought "That sounds a little like Vilanelle-hollowpoint and then Eve coming into the story". I was quite amused when I read on hear that it was Vilanelle!
I recommend the series by Luke Jennings. Some interesting writing and story development.

It flashes up on the screen that it's based on the novel at the start.I recommend the series by Luke Jennings. Some interesting writing and story development.

I looked up the book(s) to see if it was worth reading the story in print. It seems this series was based on a series of three books, and from comments on Amazon it seems like the TV rewrite actually made it a better story.I recommend the series by Luke Jennings. Some interesting writing and story development.
I was one of those people who was complaining about the middle two episodes, I thought the hapless hit squad/Frank's return/visit to Eve's house could have been done a lot better, though the ending and climax a lot tidier.
