Yet another smug and fking pointless PH thread contribution......... rolleyes
You're just looking at it the wrong way.
It was neither smug nor pointless. You probably had a similar eye rolling attitude when you were circa 10yrs old and someone tried to tell you the first time, sadly many years on and nothing has changed.
If someone took unpaid time out of their day to educate me i'd be quite happy to receive it.

The big problem with Sealion would have been keeping the troops supplied after the landing, getting ashore would have been the relatively easy bit.

There's a difference between attacking ships stopped in the water and attacking ships steaming through the waves at 20-odd knots.
Dive bombing was pretty accurate, the effective tactic was to bomb along the length of the ship, and with no fighter cover the bombers can line up the optimum approach with impunity.
As long as your target has the decency to (a) stand still and (b) not shoot back at you, I suppose.

I had a shipment coming from the U.S. so got them to chuck a copy of the DVD in with it so now have it. In a few weeks I (and any friends/family) will have watched it so if anyone here wants to do a pass around I'll send it on to you and then you to others if there is interest. Because it came from the US it's Region 1 NTSC so won't work on all players (I can watch it on my computer).

If you are interested then post up and PM me your address. Sorry, but i'll send it to 'known regulars' first and if someone pops up with '1 post just signed up today' they'll go to the bottom of the list, but will get a chance eventually.

I would be interested if you still are able to do so.

...I'm unlikely to see this film any time soon, but watched the film 'First Of The Few' on Monday afternoon...
First of the Few was 'sampled' quite brilliantly by the Public Service Broadcasting guys back in 2012:

Well I have received 227bhp's copy of the DVD and have watched it. Needless to say, I thoroughly enjoyed it (thank you again 227bhp).
He has told me that I can pass it on to anybody else that may want to watch it - however this an American market copy so it won't play on European DVD players or computers. You will need a region 1 player in order to watch it.
Contact me if anybody is interested.
