Finally caught up on the 2nd half of the season over the weekend, I still feel invested in it but not in the same way, some episodes can be a bit of a hard slog. Plus too many time jumps with unexplained gaps in the story.

They should have explained what happened at Kingdom, why were so many buildings burnt for example.
I struggled to figure that out too... from what I could tell a pipe burst and then all the buildings caught fire confused

Still, I think they might be going in a better direction - a mass cull of characters was required (and hopefully a few more will follow). Plus reducing the number of "bases" by abandoning the Kingdom might improve things, as I always preferred the episodes where they're on the road as opposed to tucked up safe and warm behind some wall. Although I do wonder if it was driven by budget constraints more than anything else - one less set location to maintain?

I agree, culling some characters and locations was a must to help maintain some sanity and aid us keeping up with what's going on. What this show desperately needs though is a goal, an end game. Something we know the characters are trying to achieve, but what we get is "this is the next enemy we need to defeat". Which could just get endless and tedious. I know that currently their end game is to have safe and trading communities, but surely they must dream bigger than that. Spread out, send scouts further to find other communities, try and find out if there is any kind of huge safe community that seems to have more knowledge of the outbreak or a method to rebuild things bigger. Again, what's with the bloody helicopters etc, where are they from, surely they must have huge resources to still be able to operate in the manner they seem to be.

True. I've always thought they needed to go back on the road and take away the "safety" aspect of being behind walls, but actually that would be a step backwards in terms of the plot progression. You're right, they need a bigger goal rather than just repeating past storylines. So send a group out to explore and leave the community behind to crack on with day to day life in safety, focus on the next step of rebuilding society.

I hadn’t even noticed tbh. I’ll probably still watch it, I’ve wasted enough time with it.

I've stuck with it the last few years because my wife likes it but I've checked out long ago.

The only chance for improvement for me, would mean moving the story on from "Americans will turn on each other 15 seconds after society falls", the Zoms are just almost pointless plot devices now, they offer no terror unless they need to, the baddies are all just a variation on a theme now.

They won't though, they can make it for peanuts because the use the same old sets, the State of Georgia gives them the same stretch of Freeway to use and they pay the actors (relatively) small fees and they will write out or kill off characters at will if they complain too much.

Like the Zoms, it will continue shuffling on year after year, slowly rotting away until the last viewers switch off. I suspect Fox will drop it at the end of their contract and it'll end up on Syfi or something.

I thought the absence of any post several days after the release was very telling.

So for those of us who watched via Amazon what do we do now? I was going to sign up for NowTV but realised they don't support nVidia Shield. I'm not watching it on a cursed phone or laptop.

Might have to just skip this one until its available on other platforms.

Just watched it.

It has moments of interest, but I spent most of it chatting to friends on WhatsApp.

There’s a few hints of what’s happening in the wider world, or rather hints they might hint about what’s happening in the outside world...

There was a line about someone being proud of them, but I didn’t catch the name, Rick maybe?

I can’t see it going anywhere this series. I know a major character will leave this series, and another will return, but I don’t see the story progressing.

I think the comic has ended now?

I still watch it, but I haven't a clue whats going on. Too many different camps - Kingdom, Hill Top, Sanctuary, Alexandria etc, Ive lost track of who lives where and why.

I've no time for the current baddie and her gang, whereas I liked The Governor & Neagan.

I keep telling myself - one more episode and if it doesn't get any better, I'm out.

Im still in, but it hasn't got any better.

We need a hint of whats happening to the country as a whole, where are the military, is there any civilisation anywhere?

Lets get Rick back, thin out the numbers to a more manageable size group, and lead us to a way of killing off all the Walkers so they can all live happily ever after. The End.

Not seen the new series yet - I didn't even realise it was out.

Then again...this was once, IMHO, one of the truly great TV series. I was genuinely hooked, binge-watching Seasons in one go. The Season 6 finale/Season 7 opener, where Negan brutally murdered Glenn and Abraham was truly disturbing and amazing TV. Like Game Of Thrones, the show was never scared to kill off big characters, and was all the better for it.

Since then, however, it's sort of limped along, getting weaker and weaker (a bit like a hungry Zombie, I suppose) - a shame, considering the heights the show initially achieved.

I'll watch this Season, but will always compare it to those early spell-binding shows, I think.

Fairly interesting episode last night, very much of the "character development" variety.

It's hugely telling how "off the boil" the show has become that there hasn't been a new Series 10 thread created and the lack of posting in this thread. But hope this season pushes the story along a bit.

No point creating a series 10 thread I don't think, as there's clearly not much interest in the show now.

Yeah me too. Was a good bit of filler actually, don’t mind an episode like that every now and again.
