Did anyone else see the start of this last night?

Looks quite promising so far, with a good period feel to it, nice locations plus some 70s cars (NSU Ro80, Merc W123). I just hope the BBC don't hype it up too much.

Yeah, enjoyed the opening. Showing promise, although I don't know the book.

At this early stage it's the presence of Michael Shannon that's holding my attention
and drawing me in.

Yes, I thought it was a good start. I may be wrong but that Ford Capri didn't sound anything like any Capri I've heard before.

I watched it last night and found it a bit slow will stick with it though as I enjoyed the Night Manager and this is produced by the same people. The locations were very good also.

Thought it was a good opener and also very stylishly done with good attention to details like the background cars.

Looking forward to the next one.

That Capri did sound good though. hehe

Agree on the cars, the NSU is a great colour. Did Ford offer the Capri with a v8 in SA markets - it sounded a bit woofly?

The Capri was produced in South Africa with a V8 engine. Was it one of those?

I thought the film from 1984 was brilliant, so might save up the episodes and binge watch this!

Iceman's in it too smile

Could have been, just remember thinking it didn't sound right. Also thought the Mercedes sounded odd.

I think the Merc is a 4 cylinder W123, they sound a bit odd as standard.

I lived in the Munich Olympic village for a while, so that was nice, although their appartment was about 10 times bigger than the one I had! biggrin

The Capri certainly didn't sound like anything from Ford of Europe, but I assumed it was either rubbish sound over dubbing or a SA V8 one, life's too short to worry about it smile

I've read the book and seem the film, but I don't recall much of the plot!

Loved the production values. The story not so much, but I'll stick with it as a slow-burner. All a bit unfathomable for now but I'm sure things will become clearer as the plot develops. Hopefully.

You make it sound like that's a bad thing.

If you don't know a great deal about the Israeli/Palestine issues of the time it's quite hard work to follow. I've watched a couple of episodes and I'll reserve judgement.

amongst her fine unsprung assets we were introduced to a Saab 99, a US spec R107 and I think a Lancia saloon last night. Possibly a BMW 02 of some description following the Merc early on? Lady VP is becoming irritated by my interest in all these.
