Just started watching series 3 of Das Boot. Interesting to get the British side of it, and will be interesting to see how the U Boat hating RN Captain plays out
Is he a Jack Hawkins type or a Noel Coward type?No snorkers though.

Just finished series 3. Just superb.
Me too, about 30 minutes ago. Yep, superb.Always ends on a poignant note. Tied up quite a number of loose ends without it feeling rushed as so often happens with multi season offerings.
Guess this was still set in 1942, introduction of hedgehog and no German acoustic torps yet, that was '43. Anyway 4th season ordered apparently.

Watched all 6 episodes today. HDR UHD picture made the special effects look appalling and despite watching all the previous series I had absolutely no idea what was going on. Found it difficult to follow. So many questions but I’ll wait to see if anyone else here watched it all.
Helping my German though and I shall use some new phrases at work next week!

LoL bet someone gets called an "arschloch"Helping my German though and I shall use some new phrases at work next week!
Agreed, does seem a bit disjointed and confusing.
Some information says it's set in autumn 1942, but other events mentioned according my memory were in a different timeframe. On the other hand sending boats into the Med through the dangerous passage past Gibraltar does sort of fit. The campaign in the Med more or less finished in 1943 which coincided with essentially their defeat in the Battle of the Atlantic in June 43 along with other significant events after which clear Germany were only ever going to lose. Autumn 42 seems too early for the Hitler assassination plot.

opening of episode 1 states "Berlin 1943" and that Doenitz has withdrawn operations from the Atlantic. I don't recall seeing any mention of 1942 in the first 2 episodes.Agreed, does seem a bit disjointed and confusing.

They managed to tie up all the
story lines by the end of episode 6. I feel like I need to rewatch from the beginning, as they kept referencing things and people from La Rochelle that I couldn't remember.
I didn't think that the SFX were too bad in UHD HDR. However, it did have the typical poor SKY UHD implementation, where the focussed foreground is UHD but the background is a hazy garbled mess. Limitations on the bandwidth I suppose. Would like to see it on a proper HBO UHD stream.
Disappointing drop in boob count, replaced by an increase in sausage....redeemed in episode 5
