I want to know what the "Top Estate" is, high up or expensive ?
Oldham is rather hilly and has quite a few council estates. .... was always my understanding of it.

Nikita - Elton John
Man (or woman to increase the political correctness count) spends time ogling attractive Cold War border guard. Ending choices range from a shifty 5 knuckle shuffle to a dash over the fence, shots fired and and WW3.

Caught by the Fuzz - Supergrass

A perfect indie song and a complete plot for a film!

The dead south - the recap

Most of their stuff could be used tbh.

Eta - Same with Jerry Reed, although Guitar Man probably already has.

Eata - Foreigner - Jukebox Hero, again probably already been done.

Dire Straits - On every street

Always felt there was a good story in that song, something along the lines of a detective nearing retirement with that one unfinished case he can't let go of.
IMO there are many songs penned by Mark Knopfler that could be made into films. For detectives there's also Private Investigations. Given his literary and journalistic background it is perhaps unsurprising that his style has a particular storytelling leaning that could lend his songs to this thread, for (further) example:
  • Telegraph Road
  • Where do You Think You're Going
  • Yon Two Crows
Moving on from Knopfler/Straits:
  • Tom Waits - The Ghosts of Saturday Night
  • Bon Jovi - Livin' On A Prayer
  • The Corrs - Forgiven, Not Forgotten

"All along the watchtower" à la Jimi Hendrix. Totally incomprehensible plot with an irrelevant, long drive across a desert in an AC Cobra.

Meeting across the River, Bruce Springsteen.
Probably loads from Springsteen. 'Racing In The Street' another one. 'My Hometown', 'The River'...
Nebraska is an ideal candidate surely?

Metallica- The Four Horsemen

Guns N Roses- Welcome to the Jungle

Misfits- Last Caress

All of the above would be great directed by Rob Zombie.

Steven Earle- Johnny Come Lately

The Gambler- Kenny Rogers

Pulp- Sorted for E’s & Wizz

In A Broken Dream

More as inspiration for a film than the synopsis. The romance, the end of the romance and the main character's descent in personal drink-fuelled ruin have plenty of scope for a story or two to be tacked on there.
