All of the Magic Light / mainly Julia Donaldson animations are on on consecutive days.

If you haven't seen them the two Revolting Rhymes (Roald Dahl) ones are well worth a watch.

I noticed that as soon as the trailer for BBC1 Xmas films was launched, that most of the comments were highly predicting that the animated film Inside Out was sure to be the one shown on Christmas Day during mid afternoon, as they felt it was more worthy than the others. But as it turned out the recent live-action The Jungle Book is the one showing.

Not much else apart from those films (Mary Poppins being shown just to cash in on the new film release at the flicks). Can't bare Mrs Brown's Boys and all the other lame excuse for comedy we have today. Christmas isn't Christmas without Only Fools and Horses, Porridge, Open All Hours (I won't include Still Open All Hours in that as that is just terrible imo), The Two Ronnies, etc.

Watching the news today, I see we've got 2 newly discovered (old) Morecambe & Wise to view over Xmas. From Sierra Leone. As you do.

(Apparently there are over 100 Top of the Pops episodes still "lost")

If you have Sky, they are showing it multiple times.

Everybody knows Bad Santa is the best Christmas movie ever made. Followed by Elf.

Die Hard doesn’t get a look in.

Unless I've not looked at the listings carefully, but I noticed they never seem to show the BBC animated short film Stick Man. You'd think having a Xmas story they would reshow it, but as far as I know it's never be shown since it was first aired.

I shall certainly be watching the greatest Christmas film ever made for the 30th time. Die Hard. Anyone who says it's not a Christmas film is plain wrong.
It is running on Sky Christmas channel...........

My son really likes Stick Man. Pretty sure it’s on the iPlayer.

Had a look at the TV Guide (a good old-fashioned paper based one that is) and Stick Man is indeed on on the 28th. Why can't they show it on Xmas Eve or Xmas Day? they seemed to rave about how well made it was when first shown, now they stick it on the 28th. Another animated film that had Martin Freeman doing the voice over (why he is in everything these days? he's never off the TV or in films) was Saving Santa. I could've sworn I remember seeing that a few years ago at Xmas on one of the channels (was made in 2013), but looking through the old archives you can find online, there's no mention of it.

Speaking of Xmas TV Guides, but before the internet when I used to read through my grans free TV guide in her newspaper, it used to puzzle me that some of listings were wrong to what was actually being shown or what was listed in the Radio Times. Maybe these were early printed listings that were changed at the last minute. But still it was rather annoying. That's a free TV guide for you.

Another animated film that rarely gets shown, particularly during the festive season, is Grandpa, from Raymond Briggs I think?. The Snowman, Snowman & the Snowdog, Father Christmas, and the recent We're Going on a Bear Hunt, and Ethel & Ernest all get shown, but never that one; I'm not sure that Briggs' The Bear from the early 90s ever gets shown much either.

The must watch list. Every year.

If the wife has her way, include Yogi’s First Christmas on that list. I can’t stand it though.
+ Elf and Muppet Christmas Carol.

edit: sorry, just noticed other posts on page 2.

To me there seems to be something missing these days at Xmas time. Wish the BBC would show an old Christmas special of Only Fools and Horses or even a Last of the Summer Wine (the Crums ep from 88 was quite a laugh). Only Fools gets repeated over and over on Gold, but according to the guide they seem to be mostly the 2000s trilogy rather the earlier, far more watchable specials from the late 80s and 90s. I remember a few years ago watching one of my fav Fools episodes on Gold, and a very underrated episode at that imo, where they go to Miami. I was annoyed when Gold cut it considerably. Why do they have to cut these episodes?. Even on DVD this special is butchered to bits. Even if you find an episode on YouTube they go and mess with the picture so it's Unwatchable, yet other comedy shows you'll find are left alone.

I can't bare Morecambe and Wise, the most overrated, over hyped, unfunnist comedy duo act ever imo. Loved Two Ronnies, but M&W just made me cringe.

Like many people I imagine we buy the double Christmas issue of The Radio Times and highlight the programmes we'd really like to watch. I've marked just one film (Those Magnificent Men in their Flying Machines) and hardly anything else; it really is a dire year.
