I've never watched EastEnders.

The question is really:

"Would the budget running wildly over, have happened if the BBC was funded correctly and not via a unfair Tax that hits the lowest earners of the UK the hardest?"

I will vote for whatever party at the next election that vows to scrap the licence fee. biggrin

Dear god the amount of times we go through this point over and over bizarre as long number of months one would assume previous countless threads read.

I don’t know about you but I listen to the radio I’ve tried commercial radio and clearly BBC without a doubt BBC is vastly superior. Maybe you like adverts or let me guess you always have a new play list stores ready to go.....

I hope the BBC charge all users so no more free licence for over 75yo. Let’s get that subset to pay their own way instead of requiring those younger to fund them regardless of ability to pay or not.

I love the people who say they stream only - now I’ve got Netflix and prime and pay HBO sometimes too - however there are only so many box sets you want to watch and it’s extremely insular / assuming the other person or persons in the same room want to watch that instead of something else.

But anyway I’m glad your democratic vote is going solely on whatever party and whatever other policies they have provided the fee is scrapped. Cool story bro

No radio station on FM caters to my requirements. Commercial or Funded by taxpayer. I get my music from the internet (which of course I have to pay a TV licence for) Generaly YouTube, Mixcloud and Soundcloud. I rarely listen to the radio as a result. I did catch a bit of Radio4 the other evening. Evan whateverhisnameis talking to someone about Brexit. Evan talked all over the pro Brexit guy, literally poo poo'd everything he said. It was embarrassing. His points of view weren't even coherent. He wasn't being a journalist he had decided his job was to destroy this guest. With strawman arguments and "well that's never going to happen is it?" Its clear he's anti-Brexit (as is his right) but it clouded the whole exchange to the point of ridiculousness. BBC News is as impartial as Fox News. It always panders to the sitting government (for fear of losing the licence fee) And in times of confusion slides to the left. And therefore doesn't fulfil its remit for balance and is unfit for purpose.

Ageism? Or do you want retired people to be taxed more?

What the fk are you talking about? laugh I haven't watched anything on BBC since Top Gear ended. 6 months ago? NOTHING they produce is of interest to me. If I find things to watch on Netflix or whoever, then why should I have to pay for a service (BBC) that I don't utilise? Seems very socialist to me.

I watch very little TV in general anyway. I tend to only watch the Eurosport or BTSport channels, a bit of Film4, ITV4 and Dave (owned by BBC but operated from advertising revenue)

As for your point about watching what you want on TV. That applies to every home with 1 TV. You are limited to 1 show at a time. confused

Lets look at BBC1 yesterday https://www.bbc.co.uk/schedules/p00fzl6p/2018/12/1...

6-10 news
10-12 Cooking
12-1415 Sport (with 15mins News)
1415-1600 - Lifestyle ste
16-1740 - Footballl and more news
1740-2100 - "Celebrity" programmes
21-22 Comedy
22-2220 - MORE fking News
2220-2345- Football (again)
2345-0015 - NFL

Dominated by News and Football.

Weekday TV is dominated by repeats! Try having a day off work and watching anything!

The BBC is no longer fit for requirements of providing varied programming IMO. Therefore it is unacceptable that it continues to be funded by the tax payer. The sooner it starts to have adverts the better! I don't wathc much ITV or Ch4 either
