Star Wars - The Mandalorian

They're setting up a lot more than I think can be dealt with in the remaining episodes. I wonder if anything will tie up with the Ahsoka series due later this year?
I think that's almost guaranteed to be honest. There's a clear tie in with BoBF and we were initially introduced to Ahsoka in live action through The Mandalorian.Carl_Manchester said:
really good episode.
SWMBO is not a star wars fan but says this series is much better than the first two.
My better half is similar....however, Mrs Ash also likes The Last Jedi, so any view she has on Star Wars is immediately ignored! Though as far as TV Series goes Mrs Ash has only seen Obi-Wan, as "anything without Jedi or Lightsabers isn't real Star Wars" again.SWMBO is not a star wars fan but says this series is much better than the first two.

I still haven't seen Clone Wars or Rebels yet, but the big purple guy was a character from Rebels https://www.looper.com/1243092/the-mandalorian-cha...
A character based on the original concept art for chewbaca too.Decent episode with lots of action and plot development but Baby Yoda just seems to be totally superfluous and standing looking cute around most of the time.
Unless they have some amazing plot development in mind that brings him into things, it's pretty clear that execs ordered the writers to bring him back after he 'left' at the end of S2, during BoBF, for the start of S3 just because of his popularity with the public.

I do get the need to monetise Mando, they've gone from having fairly firm plans for having cinema releases in 22 (Benioff/Weiss), 23 (Rogue Squadron), 24 (Benioff/Weiss) and 26 (Benioff/Weiss) at the very least, and that excludes the Johnson trilogy, the Feige film and the KOTR script which may or may not have been finished 4 years ago, to -as far as I can tell- absolutely nothing.
D+ is great, but not profitable, if they can keep Mando ticking over whilst remaining enjoyable to most AND sell some figures, pillow cases and Lego sets, it's a win-win for now.

I've seen a few theories/questions this week about the last episode...
Have they replaced Gina Carano/Cara Dune with Carson Teva the X wing pilot? Him calling on Mando etc. seemed like something they would have brought her into the story for.
Would Cara Dune have been on the blown up shuttle carrying Moff Gideon? They explained her away but if she was on the shuttle she'd be dead dead now.

i see on some other s/w forums some discussion about Bob Iger wanting to cancel Mando because of poor S3 viewings - looks BS to me , but some are in rather a froth about it, the link was initially published in the chat but its gone now.... anyone else heard?
Seeing as there seems to be a lot of back and forth with the movies and green light then red lighting them , i doubt they would want to mess with this series right now?
I read that originally there was a lot of meddling with S3 by execs, to the point Favs threatened to walk and let it all burn if they didn't step back and let him and Filoni make the show how they want (which let's be honest was excellent in S1/2). So that's the reason the first episode felt a bit weird as Favs had to mess with the editing etc to pull some stuff back. Apparently.........
I enjoyed this weeks episode, having more characters with more journeys is a refreshing change this season and I don't mind that the Mando/Grogu story is ticking away in the background this time.
I think they're setting up bringing the Emperor back (or rather showing us how that was done) with the whole subplot about genetic engineering and having the mole.
Oh and I agree this must be setting up a tie-in to the new Ahsoka series (with Thrawn perhaps?) as there's a lot of story left.

I think Thrawn will be the main antagonist in the Ahsoka series.I enjoyed this weeks episode, having more characters with more journeys is a refreshing change this season and I don't mind that the Mando/Grogu story is ticking away in the background this time.

I suspect Cara was written out after the overblown nonsense that got her sacked. She would have been a great character going forward.Have they replaced Gina Carano/Cara Dune with Carson Teva the X wing pilot? Interesting take on what’s gone wrong and what’s gone right with this season.

I didn't find her character that interesting tbh so no great loss for me in terms of the Mandalorian story. However I didn't agree with how she was hounded out of the show. I guess when you are in the public light, you have to be a bit careful about what you say but trial by social media is awful.

I was going to say "well this is how things are nowadays (and I don't like it either)" but instead I shall just say..."This is the way...".
