Just read there are no plans for S4 due to the film, which is to start filming in June.

it was my understanding that the film will end/ tie up all "skywalker" era for Disney movie/series wise - but of course Disney says one thing one week and does another thing another ....

i suspect they are going to see what the reception is to the new sequel to the sequel movie..... this will either give us more series (either set before or after or both if they feel the need to fill in plotlines from (another) rubbish movie) - and/or move sequel sequel movies..............

To be honest Disney should just really grow a pair, and set all the current star wars "skywalker era threads" aside as "DONE" and bring in some edgy talent to imagine what star wars could be set 100s of years post "skywalker" - given how good production values can be in some of the series, no complaints on that score for me, but the character writing / directing and "why did we even write a series about this in the first place" is the crux of the matter for me.

the only good thing to come out of the The Last Jedi was the line "let the past die" - and indeed Disney should do just that

Star Wars needs a total holiday. No TV shows, no games, no toys, no Lego, no model kits, no theme park rides, no books. At least 10 years, maybe more.

Chances of that happening. A big fat zero.

When has Star Wars ever had a total holiday since ANH was released?

There was a fairly big gap between Return of the Jedi and the special editions of the original trilogy. This was broken by Zhan's books.

But I agree, there needs to be some new ideas. I think that was why Andor is so good (in my opinion of course). Yes there are a few 'legacy' characters but on the whole, it tires something new. And the best bit is - no Jedi!!

I'd consume anything they throw at me.

If it was, y'know, good.

Since Disney the only Star Wars I've truly dug was Andor once the boring start was out of the way, and a handful of episodes of the Mandalorian.

The rest of it has been disposable, bordering on actively harmful.

I can't really think of any other output that's been as weak, limp and amateurish when it comes to storytelling as stuff like Ahsoka and the Fett Thing.

I thought Kenobi was the biggest disappointment. Not particularly a SW fan boy but I did at least think there was room for a really good, well told story in that one. Instead we got something seemingly aimed at kids. That CHILD! Dreadful...

Enjoyed the Mandalorian for a while but the last season was almost like a different show altogether.

I enjoyed the Boba Fett one - I just saw it as a spaghetti western in space and enjoyed it on that basis. But then I had no clue on which characters were from the cartoons or whatever so wasn't judging whether they got X character right etc; I just enjoyed it as a show.

I think what film studios will never do is satisfy all franchise fans all the time. They're ultimately aiming to attract as many people as possible to watch, not please fans of the franchise. While at the same time at least trying to please SOME of the fanbase and keep them on board.

Mandalorian Season's 1 and 2 were very good for me but that's pretty much it.

Season 3 was a travesty as were pretty much all the other movies and shows that Disney have released. The main sequel trilogy went from OK'ish in the first to absolutely awful by The Rise of Skywalker, I honestly can't believe they released something so poor.

Rogue One is OK, nothing special but it looks like a masterpiece compared to the rest, the last 10 minutes with Darth Vader were the best bit.

Was massively looking forward to Kenobi and that was very poor too. The only bit I liked was the fight between Anakin\Darth and Kenobi.

So 2 good seasons of a show and a couple of OK'ish movies, apart from that, mostly trash. What's frustrating is that most of the shows or movies have very small snippets of proper Star Wars, just surrounded by utter turgidness. It just makes me more sad tbh to see how they could have got it right but got it so wrong.

How can you actually get Star Wars so wrong anyway? It absolutely baffles me.

Rogue squadron back in the mix

As I said before, give it 4 weeks and it will be off again.
