Star Wars - The Mandalorian
Discussion
Loved the ending. The scene with the scouts shooting and missing the target was perfect.
To go into geek mode for a moment, the scout troopers knee armour was upside down for some reason and the drawings of the scouts at the end credits were a very strange mash up of TK and Scout armour.

Caught the last two episodes last night and can only reflect what others have said, it was marvelous!!
Had a proper LOL at the Scouts target practice and IG-11 learning how to do things again.
Finally the series now has exactly what it needs, a proper baddie.
Well done and thank you John Faverau!

I liked hat review, thanks for the link. Surprised at first that they really didn't seem to like Rogue One, but then they later say they don't actually like Star Wars, which could explain it.The Mandalorian - re:View

I think they (like the effect most other franchises have had on them) have been worn down by the awful product being out out there. Rich is the bigger fan but he reckons SW is creatively bankrupt without jedis and skywalker/empire, but the Mando has shown this isn't true.I think their biggest issue with the R1 is they feel it has a 'hey remember this, hey remember this, hey remember this! vibe to it. I don't get that from R1 but I do get it from the Disney trilogy films. Although after they showed a few clips, I get their point.

I've just finished watching the entire series and I have to say that I found the 40min format quite accessible. It held my attention and had a richness to the detail that as excellent.
The Mandalorian is fallible, which is a good thing and the adventures bite sized and gripping. The prisoner escape was the weakest episode for some reason - the whole thing made me feel uncomfortable, which I suppose means that I have empathy with the one and a half protagonists.
The final episode was a fitting finale with two laugh out loud moments - the target practice and banter between the stormtroopers and then the scene where the IG unit's 'nanny' mission kicks in, which had me a-whooping and a-hollerin'.
Overall, the cast is great. I think that they have cast different genders and races in non-orthodox roles which feels believable, true-to-life and fresh. The spirit of it reminds me of Rogue One, which I also enjoyed a great deal as it indulged in the Star Wars universe, whilst not having to bear the burden of The Force storyline.
I'm going to let the (nine year old) boy watch it now and I look forward to the next series.

Good summary that, especially the indulging in the universe bit, that's what I found most enjoyable, felt great to see Speeder Bikes, AT-STs, Mos Eilsey etc from different angles in more detail without being dragged along at breakneck pace, bit of a wallow and because of all the other films you are conscious other stuff is going on but its about the job in hand. The Mandalorian is fallible, which is a good thing and the adventures bite sized and gripping. Feels a bit like playing with your Star Wars toys as a kid and making up your own story.
