Funny people on Twitter out of shape because Fury and Ronnie not nominated. Well snooker ain't a sport and what has fury done? Got fat, got thin, came back, lost a fight.
errrm - a little more than that, and he didn't lose.
Against Wilder, he did lose.
Pay attention lad, he drew against Wilder. I've got no great love for the chap but he's done a fair bit this year

Considering the past between the BBC and Fury, that was actually quite tasteful and classy between them both.

Fury is his own worst enemy and he honestly admits and recognises it. I’m not a fan of his “thanks be to the power of God” stuff, but I absolutely get that he is his own bloke and accepts the consequences, good and bad of his words and actions.

Yes I'm wrong, he drew. My mistake. He's still a though.

Mind you if he carries on in his recent vein (ie not being a narrow-minded homophobic misogynist) he could do a lot of good.

Hamilton deserved to win this year, as did Froome last year, Thomas only won because Froome had an off race. The BBC do seem to manipulate the competition by their choices, netball really! best sporting moment 2018

Just googled for the vote breakdown but the BBC have decided this year to not publish them.

some guy won one a single event, doesn't really compare to being the 2nd-most successful competitor in the history of your sport, does it? Definitely one of the best ever, possibly the best of all time.
I agree, but O'Sullivan wasn't even nominated.

from first place to last in the TdF this year was a time difference of 5.48 %.

It we look at lap times across a weekend in F1, typically the slowest car/driver are within 3 % of the fastest.
That's not really a relevant comparison, generally each team in the TdF is only pushing one or maybe two riders in the General Classification race, the others are there to support them, plus go for sprint stage wins etc, so their overall times aren't the objective. If you looked at the %age gap between first and second (or the top-10) I'm sure it would be a lot closer.

England football gets more air time than the entire Commonwealth Games and Euro Championships combined.

England football didn't win anything! They were just less rubbish than usual!

They could have used the air time to have a classy little montage of every Commonwealth and Euro home nations medal.

I was pleased that G won (and I voted for him) but I actually think Froome was still more deserving of the win this year than G. He won his third consecutive Grand Tour against a backdrop of huge negativity and his ride on stage 19 of the Giro will go down as one of the all-time greatest performances in cycling.

And he still finished in the podium in Paris. Ten years ago that achievement alone might have been enough to get a British cyclist SPOTY!

I voted for Thomas, as his achievement in the Tour was way beyond expectation. He started as a support rider for Froome and stepped into his shoes when needed. Comes across as decent guy too.

it was a public vote, the BBC aren't allowed to fix such things anymore so Hamilton didn't win because not enough people voted for him. Looking at percentages or any such 'data' is really over-thinking things.

The previous poster was talking about the 2nd most successful competitor, I am pretty sure RoS is the most successful competitor wink

Are we really begrudging netball it’s moment in the limelight? Really chaps?!

I don’t play netball. I’ve never played netball. I’ve never watched a netball match in my life.
I caught the Eng v Aus match towards the end and as a sporting contest in the context of it being an International Games competition against Aus on Aus soil - it was a bloody brilliant bit of sport!!!

And I happily say that as a complete cricket nut who did a public jig of joy when the MasterChef got his ton.

Lewis's speech was a bit contrived. Again thanking the audience. He didn't come across as well as normal, but he much think he is in with a chance or else he'd in America. Billy monger spoke better IMHO. The boy done good, hope he gets a good ride next year.. Can't help thinking he is (now) made for Formula E - no gearboxes!
They have gearboxes.
no they don't, or at least they don't have a gear lever/flappy paddle.
