What is going on with DAB?

What is inefficient about it?
Cos you don't get no signal? If I were to set off to drive to my 3 nearest towns I'd have unusable or no signal for a minimum of 30% of the journey, possibly much more. I never bother with mobile internet as a passenger around my home patch because I know it's going to be useless for the majority of the way and I'll be poking hopelessly at the screen.
I sure hope 5G plasters every single wrinkle of this country because if all radio and all self driving cars depend on unbroken signal the current set up is hopeless even in some heavily populated places.

I listen to DAB all the time, I have a standard Ford set-up. Don't really have an issue, am mainly driving in the SE so maybe have better coverage as we're more important than the rest of the country. Often I can get a local station, say Radio London, on DAB when the FM has long gone. I do get the odd drop-out for a few seconds, probably as it switches to an alternative transmitter.

I have never had any issue anywhere I’ve been in England with internet radio or Spotify. Admittedly I’ve not been to north Scotland or the welsh vallies but throughout general civilisation no issue
Where i live, just outside Ascot which many would consider to be civilised I guess, there's a dead zone for phones. Phones (tried 3, Virgin, Tesco, and Vodafone) won't work in the house at all and just about half a mile or so from home. Car DAB on certain stations, such as LBC, can also be pretty patchy.
