I had a shirt made to measure a few years back and found the name of the actual maker on the collar stiffeners. I seem to recall they were based in the North West, possibly Manchester?

Does anyone know who it was please?

I think they will have been a "trade secret" sort of firm, who deal more often with tailors than the public.

You know I think you could be right. Thank you.

How did you know that? Is there a clue in your username?

ha, no! username is an old nickname due to a particularly loud shirt i own. i was 'the guy with the shirt' and then just plain old shirt. almost 20yrs later it still fits though, so i must be doing something right!

used to live in manc and had a couple of shirts made by rostrons. if you live in the NW there is, or was, a place in chester which does bespoke for around half the price. this is going back a long way mind you, can't recall the name and a quick google doesn't put a shirtmaker anywhere close to where i remember it to be located.

The one I had fitted better than it washed. But the MTM ones I've recently bought are the same, so I might get a quote from Rostrons for some more and consider them disposable.

An aside - I find Eton shirts to be better quality than any of the MTM I've tried, but they don't fit as well, being RTW.

Had a few shirts from Frank when they were on Bridge Street, Good quality but pricey now. There is another place in M'cr.

Not tried them but might be worth a look.
