Watched it last night, enjoyed it for the fight scenes. Nice nod to The Matrix and the 2 dogs were awesome. loads of laughs and cringe moments.

We usually seem to get big movies opening earlier than in the UK, so I was surprised then that last night the movies played all 3 Wick films as an event, starting at 6pm, but won't show #3 on its own until Wed 22nd.
Gits!

I'll rate the whole film a 10/10, just for the GSD attack at the end of the trailer. biggrin

They used Belgian Malinois in the film not GSD's. BMs, are much faster and more aggressive than the larger cousins.

Overall very enjoyable.

Take it for it is without thinking about the storyline too much or physical effects of the fighting and subsequent injuries or not even being unlucky with one shot getting you from the thousands being fired at you, let alone the bladed attacks....

But the fight scenes are great. I like the brutal inventiveness of some of the kills to the point you actually laughed a bit. The dogs were fantastic.

Clearly open for a Chapter 4... but will that be too many??

Great film, I enjoyed it more than Endgame. 8.5/10

I'm going to see this later on this week so in preparation I watched 1 and 2 at the weekend again. Like others I thought 1 was brilliant and 2 wasn't as good but on a second viewing I have to revise my opinion.

Initially I watched 2 in the cinema and thought it lacked the tightness of the first one and the fight scenes seemed to go on for too long which gives you a weird fight fatigue feeling as it all gets a bit too much. However on a second viewing I didn't get that for some reason and it all hung together much better. Some of the fights are very inventive, I especially like the scenes with Cassian, the bodyguard of the mafia boss woman he kills. There is obviously mutual respect there but they are still trying to kill each other, the scene in the tube station where they are taking pot shots at each other while everyone around them is pretty much oblivious is outstanding.

I can't wait to watch 3 now, a friend has seen it and he mentioned you do get that too many fights fatigue feeling again, perhaps the 3rd will be another which is better when viewed in the comfort of your own home.

They aren't on the same level as some of the great films but as all out action movies I'd rate them

JW1 as a 8.5/10
JW2 as 8/10

Well...if you like action scenes, with a high body count, almost continuously. It's probably a great film.

I found myself yawning and trying to figure out if the seat was broken or not. It felt like it tipped a bit further forward than most others, but it's tricky to calibrate with only a couple of seats easily reachable.

I know it's not a film for the story line. But it needs something other than just action for actions sake for me.

2 out of 5 knife fights

This is exactly how I felt, and why I am not overly motivated to see 3 (even though I have an unlimited card)

Additionally 1 benefits from some story setting that 2 didn't need, plus you had more plot - tracing the villains, the car shop guys, the criminals hotel and how it works.

The action and choreography was spot on, but felt less "put together" than 1 & 2. The first one is my favourite

I'll agree that the first is the best - still one of my favourite openings to an action movie. The "who's car is that" and the "Oh" - plus the nightclub scene made a for a good mix of story and action.

But as mentioned, if you're all about the action, 2, and especially 3, are incredible. I really need to see it again if only for that knife fight.

I went last night as the first real opening night locally. The cinema was full although they didn't use the largest screen.
The guy next to me and I both laughed through some of the fight scenes, especially book and knife cabinets time.

It was "brain in neutral" enjoyment after a fairly crappy day at work. smile
On that basis: 8.5/10

John Wick has killed more people in 3 films than Jason Voorhees and Michael Myers in over 20 films https://bloody-disgusting.com/movie/3562954/just-t...

hehe

A lot of people were running away from Jason and Michael though...

Yep they all go running towards JW to get killed. Surely after you'd seen him bloodily take out the 50th person, you'd start to think, hang on a sec, he's a bit handy, maybe I should go the other way.

No sense of self preservation these henchmen although saying that, one of the Russian bouncers in the first movie does decide to take the night off after JW asks him politely. biggrin

Loved the first, enjoyed the 2nd but found this it a bit meh. By the time we got to an hour in I was waiting for it to finish which is never a good sign.

I'm surprised they are planning on a 4th as felt like the well has very much run dry to me, seen it all before.

That's a hat-trick of disappointments this month when grouped with GOT and Endgame. frown

This film made me sad, as it frequently reminded me Jacqueline Pearce has passed on frown

Other than that... well, what were you expecting, really? wink
It scores low on a scale of all films ever, but very high in its niche. Guns. Lots of guns. (Possibly even more knives and swords though!)

Just got back from seeing it. Its very good, but I still think 1 & 2 were better. As people said above the 2nd act was a bit lost and didn't make a lot of sense.

The fight scenes were excellent. The knife shop was brilliant, I liked the dogs. Only thing I found a bit off was the Hale Berry fight and the guy from the Wire helping at the end. Wick is supposed to be the ultimate boggeyman that can take on everyone and he seemed to be getting too much help.

Oh and the visual effects on the final fight with the bald guy. Skyfall called they want their fight scene back biggrin
