laugh exactly what I was thinking laugh
Well she does have a braaaan ship.
If I have one criticism of P3 it is the casting and portrayal of Vadic, the use of someone made to look like one the witches from "The Scottish Play" and behaving like a pantomime villain. "She" is a shapeshifter yet chooses to appear thus? Seems a bit lazy. The rest of them are all reskinned as babes and hunks but she tries to get them to hand over Jack as an evil hag. Why not go the Battlestar Galactica way and have her drop dead gorgeous or at least believably benign?

Other than that, just caught up with the last episode (what a belter will probably rewatch it today) so felt safe to read this thread!

B5 was fantastic. DS9 was a soap
Biggest issue with B5 was that although Strasinsyki had a 5 year story arc, every season he had to fight the studios to renew, which meant non of the series were as long as he wanted them, and every series finished somewhere they could just stop if they had to

Yeah I remember that. Was such a shame, it felt very fresh at the time and the Lightwave CGI was brilliant - I still have loads of those models on my Amiga emulator!

Ok I had to wait to watch this week one which meant staying of all socials to avoid any spoilers...... (and I am going to spoil the episode now!)

Wow. So much to unpack.

The museum - Got very emotional here, so many things to take in but Seven's little monologue about Voyager was perfect. The change in music as we saw all the ships with the various theme tunes - Chefs kiss. The refit NX01 AND a TOS Constitution class was amazing. Raises the question will Pike's Enterprise get refit to TOS spec at the end of SNW or will we just have both as canon now (I'm fine with either). Hangar bay 12 has to be the "fat one". Easy enough to have refit the saucer to a spare star drive, but imagine if it's been refit to "All good things" spec. I may die.

Daystrom - The "artefacts" was a goldmine of easter eggs but so many I didn't even imagine. We had Kirk AND Archer's bodies, and as we know Picards was there as well (I saw online they're all under "Project Phoneix") I wonder how this plays into the story, does Star Fleet store every notable captain's body? I thought the introduction of Data/Lore/B4 was very well done, Brent Spiner has always been critical of playing them now he's very obviously aged and this was a great way to offset that. How he played all three a little later in the ep with just the change of his expressions/voice was brilliant. Such a talent. Only criticism is I think Moriarty was underused and maybe shouldn't have been in the trailer in that case, but he did allow us that beautiful moment when Riker realised the tune he was playing.

Laforge - Loved his reunion with everyone, as I did Crusher and Worf. Really glad of the way he was convinced to help out by his daughter. When he told his daughter to message her mum I was dying to know if it's Leah Brahams. If it is, I reckon this will be why the D is restored. Him and his wife working together to rebuild the ship she designed would be beautiful.

Other thoughts:

- I hope Troi has more to do than just be captured. I'm sure she will and I'm worried for her and Riker now. I don't think they're both making it out, especially with Riker telling Picard he's come to terms with there being "more out there" after death.
- There has to be more to Jack's dreams than that syndrome (can't spell it!). That was the quickest resolution ever and a miss direct I feel. No idea how Picards body plays into that though. I was thinking, Jack is the first offspring of ex borg, I wonder if that has something to do with it.......
- Vadic was excellent as always, but her killing one of her crew stood out. Changelings never harm one of their own, that's their whole thing so for her to just execute one of her own can't be right. Either they're not all real Changelings (some kind of Hybrid) or her crew are something different. There has to be a reason they wear masks the whole time.

Screeners have gone out for the next two eps and I hear episode 8 is even better so I can't wait to see what's next.

Rather convenient they're holding the wife of one of the raiding party they randomly captured.

Is she a Changeling? scratchchin

Could they be modern-day Jem'Hadar?

We thought the same but it seems a bit obvious... maybe...

They should soon be able to tell - surely changelings can't replicate empathic abilities. Or even all their memories together.

Yeah, something funny going on with the crew. They definitely seem to be a distinct alient race, not changelings.

And whoever is giving Vadic orders does not seem to be a changeling either judging by the way it talks of 'your kind' when discussing changelings. Plus she seems to be terrified of it.

And of course, it's all linked to Jack somehow. I'm hoping that they have a great payoff lined up for all of this ...

The next ep is called 'Dominion' - read into that what you will

That was my first thought, although Vadic did make a big thing about finding all Picard's closest family and friends, so could go either way...

I assumed the crew were Breen.

Im loving it :-)

From years of sub standard Picard (series 1 & 2), Woke Discovery, this series is tremendous and back to the quality the STNG audience demand.

Roll on next week.

I am sure that I've seen a similar effect to Jack's visions in another SciFi film/series - but can't remember what it is for the life of me (and as soon as I typed that Venom sprang to mind - though I'm not sure it is that)

Hmm, that would explain why their speech wasn't translated and they do have a big link with the Dominion War .... Also, the Breen had pretty powerful warships too. Would that mean that the Big Bad is also linked with the Dominion War too ... ?

I think that’s a safe bet. It’s been mentioned too much to be coincidental.
