Patrick Stewart to return as Picard

Yeah 1 of those little nods that S3 was full of, I think.
It's ironic that when S1 was being heralded they made a big thing about how it wasn't TNG Mk 2 and it had a very different feel and that's the only reason PS agreed to it...
and that got so much flak for S3 they made it very much TNG Mk 2 and everyone loved it. Including the cast, who couldn't stop talking about how wonderful it was to work together again...

Yeah, I do wonder if the plan for S3 was always how it ended up or if they had a rethink after S1. It's ironic that when S1 was being heralded they made a big thing about how it wasn't TNG Mk 2 and it had a very different feel and that's the only reason PS agreed to it...

One thing I do like about the 3 seasons is the development of Picard. If you watch S1, when he gets to the La Sorena he's actively shying away from the captain's chair, he's unsure of himself in that role and it's almost jarring to watch. I remember thinking how has he just lost his ability to command after all these years, but it does make sense given the time span I guess.
As you move through Season 2 and finally into 3 you see his confidence return, he eases back in to making these difficult decisions to the point when he's finally back on the D and it's like he never left.
I really like that arc for Picard and I think it works well across the Series.

Finally caught up on all of season 3 last night. Really enjoyed all that. Anyone else notice Riker / Frakes acknowledgment a late co star? As they shut down D, the 'computer' speaks and as he turns to walk away, Riker says "I miss that voice."
Apparently they used a combination of old recordings, as well as recreations from a phonetic library of her voice she recorded before she died to recreate other dialog.C5_Steve said:

I guess you could frame it as all about Picard getting his mojo back but TBH I would have preferred it if S3 was how S1 would have been, out of the gate. S1 was just so .. forgettable. And I gave up on S2 after a few episodes so I have no idea how it went. One thing I do like about the 3 seasons is the development of Picard. They should probably wrap it up here as regards focussing on Picard and the original cast. They can make cameos in any spinoff that might emerge from this season.

Octane Render Network produced a clip of the D saucer being recovered
This is part of the Roddenberry Archive, if you've not checked it out yet I highly recommend it. I find it a bit weird to navigate around, it's a bit all over the place but they have short clips like this as well as the ability to explore different ships (both inside and out). My understanding is they're working on recreating the hero ships in 3D so you can walk around them etc. It's pretty cool, that clip of the D getting salvaged is brilliant and kind of came out of nowhere.
Patrick Stewart says, “I think we could do a Picard-based movie. Now not necessarily at all about [Jean-Luc] Picard but about all of us."

"Actor touts for work" Can't really see a big screen movie about the Picard crew really now but clearly they all enjoyed working together again.https://www.flickeringmyth.com/2023/06/patrick-ste...
Slight resurrection of this thread just to highlight the Season 3 Vinyl is out for anyone that was interested. Appreciate it's a bit niche but I was waiting for months for it to come out in the UK after it dropped in the US and couldn't find a release date anywhere.
It's on Amazon for ease here: https://www.amazon.co.uk/Star-Trek-Picard-Season-W...
I got mine elsewhere as pre-ordered it, artwork and viny itself is very nice especially as it's pretty inexpensive. Probably the last time we'll get something Jerry Goldsmith inspired for a long time so thought it was worth picking up.

I don't do vinyl myself but that's a nice looking package. And reasonably priced compared to what I see in the vinyl racks in HMV...
Yeah I don't either, but a few years ago my GF bought a record player to play some of her Dad's old records. Then I started to see limited edition movie soundtrack vinyl and well here we are!I'm not old enough to have grown up with vinyl but there is certainly a warmth to it you can hear which lends itself to large orchestral tracks.
