Much better episode with more Harris and less of the other two, strikes the right balance for me.

Will Young segment was dire though.

I'm really struggling with those ascribing terms such as "great" to this series.

It's been better than I feared, but nothing more.

Yes, I have watched it, despite the fact "[I don't have to][no-one is forcing me to]".

It's...alright. Nothing more.

The last series, one at least had the impression that messrs LeBlanc, Harris and Reid were trying to run with the torch from the 'CHM Era'. This series, they seem content to merely carry it in a pretty lazy manner. The Lotus 79 piece was the only real flicker of passion in the whole series, in my opinion.

'Old new top gear' was struggling to match its pomp by the end, but can anyone see the current lineup producing anything to match moments like Exige vs Apache, the 3 supercars to Millau, the E-Type 50th anniversary piece, the British manufacturing piece, or the Aston V12 Vantage piece? I honestly can't, and that saddens and worries me.

great episode, but surely lotus knew about ground effect considering the other car with fan was racing..
Fan car didn't appear til later in the season, and then Chapman was a bh about the fact his car was being beaten, along with the other team bosses.

Supra looks the part but dog slow for £50k. Tuners will be itching to get the first tune up kits out.
If you look at the extended lap time board there is a lot of other fast cars that are slower.

They kept quoting the Supra as just over 300bhp. It's 340hp.

Good show mostly tonight. Good series overall.
Based on drag races its significantly faster than the M140i Z4 on which it's based, also been independently dynoed at nearer 380hp.

fk that it looks like a prolapsed arse.
It's arse is it's worst bit for sure. Rest looked ok.
I like the look of the new Supra. It's not exactly beautiful but it looks striking and quite exotic for a £50k sports coupe.

Lotus feature was decent enough. More of this type of stuff would improve it overall.

What's this, "You can see the lap online?" Well, if it's not too much trouble I'd prefer to see the lap on digital freeview TV.

Really good episode, and a good series.

I much prefer when they do motorsport or car culture pieces over the random adventures. Seems to get the presenters involved a bit more on what they are doing and the laughs seem to come a bit more naturally.

No worries, if you watched any edition of Bullseye with Jim Bowen. "Great, smashin', super".

A red setter?
Lol, but true, that's Billy, unfortunately RIP jobbie, best dog I've ever had. Still got another red setter with an English setter arriving in 2 weeks.

If I had to choose between the dog or the Lotus, dog would win every time. Just material stuff.
You never had a red setter , you we're staff for the red setter wink

we had one to , they all seem total divas but once you've had one nothing else really compares

Just watched the Harris piece on the Lotus 79, cracking effort. The camera angle looking under the car was great insight into how they worked and you could tell how much it meant to him to be able to drive it.

I'm the complete opposite, last 20 mins was the first time I turned off this whole series.
Bored the crap out of me, rest of everything- 9/10.

That feature on the 79 Lotus makes me feel very happy to own this

Very nice car, Bob!

Those colours inspired the colour scheme I chose for the 4 aeroplanes I once managed:

As for tonight's programme, the Lotus segment was very good indeed. Whereas the rest....

The Icelandic racing was the best bit of the whole series

As a prior fan of Icelandic mentalists driving up cliffs, former Supra owner and having had the Corgi JPS Lotus pulling a Lotus F1 car on a trailer as my favourite toy back in the day that was very close to peak Top Gear for me.

Will Young was a weak addition considering his obvious petrolhead credentials and for me that took the edge off an otherwise great episode of Top Gear in general, not just of this series.

Surely could lop 30 seconds off Will Young and show the lap highlights?

Other than that I enjoyed the rest a lot,
New Supra looked great on outside and my usual reason for never buying Jap cars (cheap plasticky interiors) is solved by nicking a BMW one

Our family dog was a red setter too - RIP Django you lovely, happy, daft dog

Isn't streaming TV council? They don't have terrestrial telly, just an 18 ft cinema for Netflix and watch Chav Bonk Island "telly" on their rose gold iPhone 4000.

I enjoyed the Lotus 79 segment.

Otherwise I thought most of this series was pretty poor. My wife watched the second half of last nights episode. She said that she thought the presenters "lacked finesse".
