Didn't the Diablo have no windscreen in Cosmic Girl?
They wrote one off on the way there and smashed the screen of the second, explains why in some of the onboard shots their hair is blowing about. wink

It will be interesting to see how they handle this when the show airs. Hopefully they already had a good amount of footage in the can to make a feature out of, and not a case of "we were going to bring you a film about some interesting old supercars, but somebody trashed one of them within the first five miles of filming, so here's a review of a Vauxhall Astra instead."

I suppose it depends how far through they were And what the segment was. Similar things have happened previously. Hammond turning up in a different colour one or as ‘top bants’ paddy being forced to finish the challenge in a lada.

It will make for a point of interest in the show that’s for sure. Think they will probably repair it and do some extra filming later on.

Even better memory! Maybe Paddy can be excused his faux pas? Maybe not!

I believe Sony, his record label, paid for a new Diablo for him as it was their production team that wrote the first one off.

Which means ultimately, he paid for it. Along with all the additional costs Sony incurred making it look like they paid for it. biggrin

So, the "scene of the crime" was not all that far from me, and so the local grapevine has done its thing.

Here are a couple of photos of the aftermath. Word on the local grapevine has it the owner believes it a write-off at this point.

No chance, it will turn up in 6 months in that Yorkshire multi story car park dealer with only 5 more miles than the last mot, one lady owner.

Is there a way to exit a diablo if it ends up on its' roof? Or do you have to wait for a rescue crane?

/curious.

If it was a Lambo Huracan, then "You're only supposed to blow the bloody doors off!" Explosive bolts fitted as standard, apparently.

I doubt the Diablo is a write off, with values on the up and even with parts prices it will be repaired

Not sure why it would need them, the doors open just like any 'normal' car? scratchchin

i'd be more concerned about something like a AMG SLS because on that car the doors extend into the roof so if it was upside down then you couldn't even blow them out

That was less explody than I imagined it would be, which is probably a good thing since the hinges would be right next to your head.

well in my defence i was thinking more about the apparent design of the car rather than anything i knew about its safety features, but it looks like on a flat piece of ground at least (however would it ever realistically be flat... you'd probably be in a field) the car leans towards the front end so it lifts away from the door/roof bit to allow it a bit of leverage... but still seems to require someone from outside to open it? Or maybe that is just because crash test dummies can't do it from inside...

Just back from 6 months abroad (better). No VPN so no BBC.

Bingeing TG this afternoon. Loved it. Peru and Baja amazing.

If we can stop 'our' Chris from over-laughing that'd be good but genuinely thrilled to see the Programme and Team in top health!
