Did they say that he'd achieved "Three, yes THREE" F1 wins? Is that a lot? Sounds pretty mediocre to me.
That comment I can live with but they also said he used to beat Michael Schumacher. I wish my job required so little success.

Only 55-odd drivers have ever won more than 3 F1 GPs out of about 775 that have driven in the championship. I think that merits more than 'pretty mediocre' status.sandman77 said:

He was generally considered to be quicker than Schumacher when they were teammates in the Mercedes sportscar team prior to F1, and it was that reputation that landed him the Williams drive. Unfortunately he failed to deliver on that promise and was dropped after two seasons.According to the statistical study by Sheffield University Methods Institute and as published in Journal of Quantitative Analysis, Heinz-Harald Frentzen was rated 42, so in the top 50. Stirling was rated 29, no doubt suffering greatly due to career being cut short after his Goodwood shunt.
Frankly anyone on here, unless they are or have been F1 drivers, or at minimum world class competitors in another top line formula, are in no position to make disparaging comments, even of back markers, as 99+% of us wouldn't get a lap in without spinning, even if not trying that hard.

I don't think the vociferous defence of HFF is warranted after one post in a long thread called him "mediocre", but thanks for sharing that anyway...Frankly anyone on here, unless they are or have been F1 drivers, or at minimum world class competitors in another top line formula, are in no position to make disparaging comments, even of back markers, as 99+% of us wouldn't get a lap in without spinning, even if not trying that hard.

I didn't call him mediocre. I said (knowing fk all about F1) that winning just three times in ten years seemed like it might be mediocre.Doofus said:

Well done, now you've unleashed the full fury of the F1 geeks.Back on topic I quite enjoyed last night's episode not exactly a classic but not bad considering the current filming constraints. I see there are less complaints about Paddy McGuiness's driving ability this week.

Yes some of the episodes have been poor but then that was the case with CHM too.
