Wait - do they actually think there was a chance that Chris Harris did that?!

Yeah that’s just ridiculously naive. You can’t just go do a wingsuit jump!

I didn't enjoy it as much as other series. I've never been a fan of trashing new cars just for fun but get why the companies let them do it, prime time advertising for the cost of a car win win.

I strangely like rory but after watching extra gear this morning it just felt really forced.

Indeed. Two celebrities gushing about your products to an audience of millions for like half a million combined is bargain of the century.

And £15k for the Ignis/Panda!

Was a so so episode. Quite enjoyed the bit in Norway. The Ignis and Panda was ok but agree about Sabine's shouting being off putting. Never heard of the Star in the Car but at least unlike some previous one's he did have a car history. I would give that episode 5/10. Hopefully it might pick up a bit in the later episodes.

Can't actually believe in 2019 people still use that racist language.
Perhaps benefit of the doubt he meant Harris as that’s his nickname and he got confused.
Then he needs to go back and edit his post sharp-ish.

When the presenters of a TV Show are having more fun than the viewers, something has gone far wrong.
Hit the nail on the head there (and this applies to The Grand Tour just as much).
Eh?

The whole point of these shows is to offer a little escapism, the presenters should be having an impossible amount of fun doing all the things we would love to get a chance of doing. Getting paid to prat about with cars in stunning locations with your mates compared to our dreary 9 - 5, and you think its bad because they're having more fun than you sat on the sofa trying to work out if it was your dog or misses that guffed…. rolleyes

Once you get past the idea that it is ever going to be a really great programme again I think it is still worth watching, even if only for the cars. However, the acting and script writing are really, really dire. Same old jokes based on the erroneous belief that the viewer is a congenital idiot. Literally no-one thought that Harris had jumped off a mountain with a wing suit on. Just as no-one thought that Hammond had actually crashed down a mountain side in a three wheeler in the latest Grand Tour episode. It used to be funny, it just really isn't now. I would hazard a guess that there is a mountain of money to made for someone who thinks up a new format for a car based entertainment show.

Enjoyed it.

Also, first time I've seen a Porsche 'review' and actually thought to myself 'I quite fancy that'.

Bland and boring, but I still watched it.

I'd have an Ignis, perfect to chuck the MTB in and go off up into the hills.

One thing that I noticed, and the 'other three' used to do this as well, but whenever they did an outside filming shot of the Porsche and the Ferrari, there was always about an inch between them, tailgating of the highest order, I know they're on a road trip and it looks better on film, but do you think impressionable clowns see this and it breeds more tailgating as 'monkey see monkey do'?

I'm sure most people watch the show for what it is without getting upset there is a new line up next series.
Not sure I agree with that. I know a lot of people who no longer watch it because they preferred the CHM era. In fact, I'd go so far as to say that >50% of those who regularly watched TG no longer do.

I still watch it, I find it enjoyable to watch. Do I find it as enjoyable as "old" TG? No. But then, I don't think TGT is either, although it's definitely improving.

I actually prefer the new lot. CHM are beyond cringeworthy to me now. I have amazon prime but haven’t watched TGT for the last several episodes. Not interested in the slightest.

I'd suggest you watch the piece they did on Jim Clark, something every bit as good as any TG ever, and better than anything the new low have done. Senna review was good, some good bits on the American car episode (all in the latest series) - anyway, we digress...wrong thread smile

I think the producers/writers need to dial back on the scripted jokes again, they're painfully obvious and not that funny. It was better towards the end of the last series and felt more natural.

Still pretty enjoyable though.

Finally an episode where they review two cars that "normal" people can actually afford, and people are still moaning.

Aside from Sabine screeching away and Rory's try-hard excitment on the "race" I enjoyed it.

For those unaware of who James Marsden is and can't be bothered to google - he was Cyclops in the first 3 X-Men films, and one of the leads in Westworld, plus he's been in some other stuff that I can't remember.

Errrr, I think you’ll find that ‘Monkey’ is Chris’ nickname, he wasn’t in the Suzuki, unless you are referring to Rory Reid as....a monkey? redcard

Harris is trying to be an angry May, Le Blanc a refined Clarkson and Rory is trying to Hammond without the ability or knowledge.

Can't really agree with anyone who says the presenters have their own personality, they are trying too hard to be CHM replacements and the format is frighteningly similar to Grand Tour now.

While I enjoy TG this part really made me think WTF. I seen the 66 plates and though the same about why using cars that are 3 years old. Plus the shouting got on m y tits
The first time I have really not enjoyed a section of the show
Interestingly, if you go on DigitalSpy forums, there are a few people saying that was the only part of the show they enjoyed! The difference between car spods and the general public...

In part, but I thought the bit at the end with the wing suits was genuinely funny, the old 'lethal weapon' "do we go on 3..." line then point where Harris jumps, just funny. Yes, it was clearly not him jumping, yes it was scripted, and yes you knew LeBlanc wasn't going to jump, but still funny thumbup

Both cars were 66 plates. I wonder if this was an old recording?

I didn't think Sabine was due to feature much this series?
Yes, it was, they had a few films they'd already made that were potentially destined for the previous series, but which got cut for time I assume. Seem to recall the bit with and old Bentley was in the promo for last series, but has been held back for this one?
