TV advertising isn't cheap and top gear is sold around the world. A £70k car needing a deep valet isn't going to outweigh the benefits to Mercedes of having their car on there.
I bet it would still be worth it Merc even if they had to write off a £70k car.

Indeed. Press cars etc are written off the minute they are first delivered. They will give less than one metric toss about what happens to it.

Yes , who cares about one car of millions ?
What is depressing is seeing them wreck a tidy classic in some stupid stunt ,
Anyway the whole program is stale and totally predictable , can’t be bothered to watch generally!!

Well luckily for you, watching TG is still down to personal choice.

A little known fact- Stanley Kubrick originally wanted to use Top Gear as the forced viewing in Clockwork Orange, but bbc said no.

Probably already been said but I’m not reading 400 pages.

The trouble with tg now is trying to replicate chemistry.

H M and C were all car journos who just so happen to have great chemistry together and it worked out that it was comedy magic. Two of these have no experience in the field they are now trying to force comedy and it feels off and forced. I like all of the new top gear chaps but trying to recreate what was before is a bit naff.

I stopped watching some time ago, prefer the likes of Jonny Smith and Rory Reid on Youtube.

The thing is I may have to pay for the BBC but I don't have to watch it.

So you've come onto a thread about a particular tv program just to tell us that you don't watch that tv program?!

Was. Now everything has moved on and he just looks like an overweight, scruffy old fool desperately trying to cling onto the past. GT is actually awful, it’s a long time since he did something which was genuinely decent.
Whilst I’ve never taken to the Grand Tour, I thought Clarkson’s Farm was good. There was an element of the Clarkson buffoon but equally there plenty more bits where you saw a different and dare I say it more genuine side to him.

I struggled with that. Two episodes at the complete opposite ends of the quality scale.
I’d agree with that. The first epic really enjoyed, whereas this weeks was much harder going. A couple og bits made me chuckle but some of it was a bit meh.

Oof, straight for the jugular.

Although, I am liking the recognition and authority you've attributed to me.

Now kneel minion...

Googling an appropriate response may take me a few mins.

Doofus may have a suggestion?

The caravan segment was the best bit of the show.

I did the opposite.

Not sure which of us wins, TBH.
