Now, that's what I call a camper, that's what I call niche petrolhead content and that was a really enjoyable episode.

Other opinions are available and will be vastly different. I loved that, laughed a lot.

Not mine, I loved it. But I am a huge fan of American car culture and its sheer diversity. Great episode.

You know the review of a car show is fair minded when it complains about the gas guzzling vehicles in it and lack of interest in global warming.

At least the description of McGuiness was accurate: "A foghorn with a driving licence."

Watched it due to Nothing else on and raised a couple of smiles, thinking afterwards though I have no interest in ever rewatching any Top Gear episode since Clarkson May and Hammond finished, where I was I will often watch some of the better classic ones on Dave if they’re on

Lexington is nothing more than a troll. He ruins other threads.

The Telegraph piece was written, prepared and went live at 9pm. Nothing like trying to dive in first for attention of the idiots.

Oh, maybe I did that earlier. laugh

No wonder PH posters are complaining, load of rubbish, entertainment show not a car show.

Record it from now on so that I can FF the boring bits, just in case there is a really interesting bit, when they are good they are very good but when bad oh dear

Why run an old engine low in oil? Surely you check oil and water every day. Oh wait until engine knocks then check oil level pathetic.

Time to stop giving money to BBC and use Netflix etc.
It’s been an entertainment show for years

If I were one of the TG haters who occupy this thread, after reading that my immediate thoughts would still be that he'd written 99% of that piece prior to Sunday evening.

Suspect he's just a trolling little berk, who lives somewhere around Peckham and travels everywhere by Tube and e- scooter.

I’d give Cletus and his team a show anyday.

McFarland is more technical than he lets on and the guys he has with him are genuinely humbled to have the opportunity to be there.

I know it’s YouTube style heavy and they can make the same mistake as they did with that knob Tavarish.

I thought it was rubbish, one of the worst episodes it TG I can remember in a long time. I’m not sure it raised a single smile until the dirty race.

I’m a huge fan of TG, I thought the last series was mostly very good, and was really looking forward to the new series but I’m afraid it’s got off to the worst possible start.

My 12 year old loves TG (tbh he prefers CHM to the new line up) and even he thought it was nonsense and took himself off to bed 15 mins before the end, that says it all to me.

Ha ha, I’m certainly no ecomentalist TG hater or wokeist but a one star in the Telegraph seemed a little surprising, you could understand it in the car hating guardian perhaps.

Well the jury’s out and it’s still saved on my TiVo so I may get around to watching later based on the more positive commentary here.

The 'donks' were insane. Utterly pointless, totally irrelevant but something so American about up to 1000hp in cars as silly as this. Great start to the series. The game of snap/slap made the inner child in me laugh out loud

Surprising? The fact that the programme is about cars doesn't count for much to The Telegraph when it's on the BBC. Slagging off the woke/lefty BBC is what's important to them.

I enjoyed that. Donk racing and Dirty 30 were both great, the swamp stuff wasn't great (very dull racing) and therefore made the in-between sections feel a bit weak. Overall a decent first episode.

I'd love to hear a Collecting Cars podcast with Chris and Garrett Mitchell (Cleetus) as i think it'd be great to hear more of the man behind the character.

That wasn't a review of an episode, it was his thoughts on why he dislikes Top Gear as a concept masquerading as a review. A waste of everyone's time.

I enjoyed it. No brain required and sometimes that’s all you want
