It looks like they are going head to head with The Grand Tour but without the budget.

Trying to do long story type pieces but with no foreign travel, no money and no flair. It's a Wish version of 'Loch Down'. And that was poor enough.

No foreign travel? Did you not watch it when they went to Florida?

Hardly an expensive trip was it? Probably cheaper than CHM race from France to turn on Blackpool Illuminations a few years back.

So why say "no foreign travel, no money and no flair" and not just "no money and no flair"? confused

Well, I enjoyed it. But I did watch it expecting a light entertainment show and not a car show. In fact I fast forwarded through the Lotus bit because I have no interest in a car I can't afford and wouldn't buy anyway even if I could.

He was referring to a future 4 cylinder model that would compete with the Cayman.
No, it was just a sloppy piece of verbum that encompassed many Cayman models to compete with the Emira.

The 4.0GTS Cayman currently competes with the V6 Emira and the upcoming 4pot will compete with the current 4pot Caymans.
I think the "no competitors" comment is fair play actually. The Lotus looks like a supercar, the Cayman & Alpine do not (to my eyes). They may be as fast/good on the road, have similar engines/specs but they look a little bland and unexciting in comparison. They're all good cars, but the Lotus looks fast.

For me, the difficult choice would be between the Emira and the Corvette which I think is a better comparison.

Because it was that dull, I'd forgotten about it. OK?

So the competitors that are the Cayman and the A110 aren't competitors because you agree that the "no competitors" comment is fair play, but you think the Corvette is a better competitor than the competitors that aren't competitors?
hehe

What, you've been watching since 1977 smile

Its changed somewhat since then. The early programs make even the LeBlanc series look watchable.
I've been watching it since 77. What's surprising about that?
I watched Wheelbase before it too.

I missed it on Sunday and wasn't going to watch it after checking in on the feedback here. Monday night there was absolutely nothing of interest on so I put it on and braced myself. Can't believe they really spent about 55 minutes of the show just on HGV's! It wasn't good. I'm yet to see a decent episode this season and in the past there has usually been something reasonably decent within the first 3 episodes.

Yes hehe

I don't think there are many people who would think that a US V8 sports car is a competitor to a small Lotus, apart from me, and I have a very special relationship with logic as demonstrated above lick

I'm normally pretty supportive of this trio and provided it's pitched at a level that the missus can enjoy too, I'm happy enough; however Sunday's episode was just a bit 'meh', and for the first time Paddy's inane, shouty joviality started to grind my gears.
Hope next week's is better.

Didnt mind the truck stuff, must take some doing finding stuff that they haven't done before and fair play that they all actually passed an HGV test, no mean feat really.

Assuming that they did as they said they did and were driving HGVs on the road.

Wonder what actual Truck drivers made of it ? Thought it wasn't that relevant ? grateful to get a mention ? or thought it was bang on ?

My wife has no interest in cars or motoring in general, nor in motorsport.
She really enjoys the current format of Top Gear, including this series. That said, when the Lotus Emira bit was on she went off and made us each cups of tea.
I asked her what she likes about TG and she said "The banter really. It's very funny, and I like watching grown men do silly stuff and taking the mickey out of each other." She was in fits of laughter during the 'police chase' section around the power station, especially Freddie's "Howzat". She did say that the HGV stuff was a bit boring, and I agree with that.
