Didnt mind the truck stuff, must take some doing finding stuff that they haven't done before and fair play that they all actually passed an HGV test, no mean feat really.
Assuming that they did as they said they did and were driving HGVs on the road.
Wonder what actual Truck drivers made of it ? Thought it wasn't that relevant ? grateful to get a mention ? or thought it was bang on ?
It was a positive view of the industry for a change which was nice…Assuming that they did as they said they did and were driving HGVs on the road.

Plenty of moaning on Facebook about not showing the “true picture” but don’t know how entertaining waiting for 3 hours at a Tesco RDC and being spoken to like dirt by some little Hitler security guard would be.
I’d seen Paddy posing with TT rider John McGuinness with their HGV pass certificates. Paddy was driving John’s Scania in the first film.
Finally got around to watching the previous episode as nothing else on. Agree the cop car thing started well nut was just too long and I fast forwarded some of it. The C5 bit was good, Freddie again showing his cahonas are large. The lack of Paddy in the C5 bit was especially pleasing

My wife has no interest in cars or motoring in general, nor in motorsport.
She really enjoys the current format of Top Gear, including this series. That said, when the Lotus Emira bit was on she went off and made us each cups of tea.
I asked her what she likes about TG and she said "The banter really. It's very funny, and I like watching grown men do silly stuff and taking the mickey out of each other." She was in fits of laughter during the 'police chase' section around the power station, especially Freddie's "Howzat". She did say that the HGV stuff was a bit boring, and I agree with that.
this is the same feedback from people i've asked in our office who don't care about cars at all, they enjoy the banter and them being sillyShe really enjoys the current format of Top Gear, including this series. That said, when the Lotus Emira bit was on she went off and made us each cups of tea.

not really my bag but I understand they have to please their viewers
the mc20 is going to be on sunday's show so i'm excited to see what they make of it as imo it's a really under rated car and deserves more praise
Watched the latest one tonight. Enjoyed the truck bit but would have liked to know more about the licence course. Emira review was short but still good. Didn't fast forward anything. Still convinced PM is an utter bell end, and damaging someone else's truck was extra evidence.
Chippenham truck stop looks nice, I'm assuming cars aren't allowed in!

Just watched the latest.
The trucking thing was clearly a public information film, designed to help recruit more hgv drivers, of which the country is short, as stated. As an ex trucker I quite enjoyed it, was impressed by them getting their licences, but obviously it was a highly rose tinted view, the reality (if its still the same) would put people off.

for those who have always watched top gear since the beginning
What, you've been watching since 1977 Its changed somewhat since then. The early programs make even the LeBlanc series look watchable.
I watched Wheelbase before it too.

apparently there have been complaints about last week's epi - wasting petrol and taking an HGV course/test slot from someone who'd want to do it for real.
I'd like to think that these complaints were made up, however...
I read that Ofcom received 250 complaints because a 19 year old vapid nobody kissed a 26 year old vapid nobody on Love Island, people will complain about literally anything. I'd like to think that these complaints were made up, however...

Diabolical, as usual. Boring tripe about 3 boring lorries. Couldn't have less interest,
5 mins on a decent car, which was described as "nice". I think TG has really seen it's day now. 3 hours so far of the series and 5 mins of normailty relating to cars.
Fifth Gear so much better - informative, to the point and educational.
Fifth gear focuses on milkfloats these days. I'm only interested in ICE cars5 mins on a decent car, which was described as "nice". I think TG has really seen it's day now. 3 hours so far of the series and 5 mins of normailty relating to cars.

4m people watch Top Gear every week. About 400 people watch Fifth Gear. But clearly the 400 are right.....

400 happy viewers trumps 3'999'600 unhappy ones.
Who says that 4m people are unhappy watching it? As is typical on PH, you are taking what you think and claiming that everyone else thinks the same.

I think I was surprised that anyone who could sit through the original series of TG and enjoy it would have found the JC and modern TG unwatchable.
Some of us lived for those moments of Chris Goffey opening a door and going, "many viewers wrote to us saying that their seat bolsters had gone rather threadbare over time, and even worn through to the foam on high mileage cars. Well you'll be pleased to know that Ford are now using this tweed-like material on the seats, which appears to be quite a lot tougher and hopefully will wear rather better." When has Paddy McGuinness ever enumerated a list of small items you could possibly fit in a new car's interior oddments tray, eh?ddom said:

What do you do if you liked 1 episode 1 week so decided to watch the next, and didn't like that?
Take to the internet and complain, or realise life is just not perfect Timberwolf said:

I know it's off topic but when I was a teenager I bought both Motor and Autocar every week (I thought Motor was the better one actually) and used to love the proper objective evaluation of the cars including how many how many cube shaped boxes could fit in the boot.
Autocar used to be absolutely off the charts for nerdy technical detail. As a kid I loved the diagrams of the car interior with all the major controls labeled, I don't know if they actually helped anyone's purchasing decision but it was nice to know at the age of 8 that if you suddenly needed to find the heated rear window switch in a Citroën BX you wouldn't hesitate for a moment. Plus the full page with blueprints and acceleration figures for almost every combination of gear and road speed imaginable. We used to get a lot of What Car? donated to us which was absolutely the car magazine for people who didn't give the slightest toss about cars and just wanted to know which one was cheap and wouldn't rust. I'm sure I recall at least one group test where one car was 200cc and about 30bhp clear of all the rest and all they cared to mention about it was that the boot was a bit small and the choice of cabin materials left the interior feeling a bit dour in comparison to the jazzier fabrics of the others.

Also it must be a bit of an anticlimax for todays live audience, standing in a shed watching videos.
Is there actually any need for an audience and 'studio' anymore with no news segment, no guests, no Stig lap, etc. Seems to be a lot of effort to build the set up and ship an audience in for a minute or two of awkward standing around waiting for applause to die down and to introduce the next film. I had Motor on subscription from about the age of 14. Great detail, great group tests, no glibness, just facts and plenty of them, though I paid scant attention to actual prices and how uncompetitive some of them were, at their price point.
Now we get You Tube glibness and "It's alright, this, isn't it" and some prodding and, to be honest, it gets boring as you have to wind it on to get to the detail. It's also less facts and more opinions.
As for Chris Harris torturing a car round a track, sideways, I honestly don't give a flying f***, I want to know if it sticks to the road and handles nicely round fast bends.
I haven't bought a car mag since about 1994 and most modern cars are as interesting as gravel.

Much as it feels really awkward when they do it and I know the PH hate of it but the show really needs some sort of break like a news segment or an interview section.
