the synthetic fuel was a real eye opener especially.
I wasn't aware of synthetic fuel. But with governments pushing for electric cars, and manufacturers making electrics, is it something that will always remain highly priced, and instead of pumping it into our cars, we will be buy it in 30 years, off the shelf of motor factors, in 5 gallon recyclable containers, to run our classic cars on

Hydrogen interests me and I think that has a future, but of all the electric cars they showed the only one that interests me even slightly was the Mach-E and that's only because I like the way it looks. I just find them all dull. Massive acceleration is fun, but without sound it just seems pointless.
Yep, I enjoyed that, the missus and MIL were in the room when it was on and it held their attention too. I could identify with Paddy when he was enthusing about the acceleration of the Defender, there's a sense of joy and amazement of taking something that is interesting and characterful and making it go so much faster than it was ever intended to. Though not a BMW fan I thought the M series slot was interesting and well done.
Roll on the next series, any idea when's it scheduled?

I had the same thoughts. Instead of mandating that internal combustion engined cars are no longer to be sold after 2030, why not make a push for greener fuels and/or cleaner combustion engines for the same date. Manufacturers would still be developing the ICE and not pushing inferior electric vehicles.
They've been doing that for the last 30 years (Euro 1)...And after industry spending billions lobbying in fighting it, billions in fraud by industry and the huge cost of catalysts (and their theft) the industry themselves have made the business decision that trying to meet stricter Euro 7 standards on low-profit margin cars is unviable and that the future is electric.
Synthetic fuels still cause localised pollution. They still require immense amounts of electricity to generate, which has to come from fossil, Renewables or nuclear.

I’m obviously biased but… best episode for years. Absolute cracker.
Totally agree, think the improvement is down to many shorter segments instead of a forty minute section. Plus it gives more chance of appealing to a younger or older audience. The complaints on here are spilt between older and younger viewers who have different expectations of the programme.
Will still keep watching though the good programmes, to me, make it worthwhile watching the poor programmes.

That goes without saying, but there will be no import taxes, and it will be a whole lot greener, we can continue to drive our old cars. I certainly won't be able to afford an electric car.
It's hugely energy intensive and it's never going to be cheap enough, or produced on a large enough scale, to somehow make it a cheaper alternative to electric cars. It's a way that people can continue to drive classics and that's basically the reason Porsche are chucking money at it.Gassing Station | TV, Film, Video Streaming & Radio | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
