I don't think he's been misinformed at all, he just simply made it up. I'm not entirely sure why anyway with an ounce of common sense would think people just hand over their cars to be thrashed without a care in the world.

He's probably remembering the story of the time Adrian Hamilton lent them his father's Le Mans winning Jaguar C type, and they handed it back with knackered tyres and a broken rear axle.

You know that TV isn't really real life, right? You're an advertiser's wet dream old son.

What makes you think any of that is true?

We had an agreed value on the insurance policy for the shoot if there was a total loss or damage and they even bought me a new set of tires at the end. Like I said, they were incredibly accommodating and friendly throughout the entire process. Very careful and thoughtful with the car, asked a lot of questions, always asked permission for a burn out, and they always kept me in the loop with what they were going to do and when. I can't really imagine myself or the car being treated better by the staff.

Most of the staff were "car guys" and just great people to be around.

You have been grossly misinformed IMO.
As expected, but good to hear nonetheless.

I always watch TG, in the hope each episode will be decent.

On Dave at the moment, Harris, Flintoff and Paddy are racing 4x4s round a quarry. I swear I've never seen this episode before.

The same thing happened yesterday, and now I can't even remember what that one was about.

I conclude that these three are just forgettable.

I still remember Clarkson’s classic review of the E60 V10 M5, from back in the day when TG was good.

Amazed people will drive vintage cars like that but I guess it’s what they were made for.

Controversially, I think Paddy is far, far better than Flintoff.

It's the first episode of the series that's actually felt like an episode of Top Gear. It's like they saved all the best bits for last.

The rally car looked pretty smart, I used to be the Ford WRT estate security supervisor many moons ago when Colin McRae, Carlos Sainz Sr and Petter Solburg raced for Ford.

I normally enjoy the show anyway, but that was the best episode in about 7 or 8 years.

Not 1 bad moment in it.
