As others really, enjoyed s1 and 2, thought what I have seen of S3 pretty dire. About half the characters are a pointless embarrassment, what could he have been thinking with the two odious men and the ott gay agent, way to much c bombing. Sorry I’m out after episode 4.
I'd finish it

It's like EPs 1-4 were written by someone else and then 5-6 are back on form

Some of what occurs in 1-4 does make more sense at the end but yes a lot of focus on some characters makes them hard going

Season three has certainly divided option! Hopefully few would dispute that the soundtrack was fantastic - someone has made a play list on Spotify: https://open.spotify.com/playlist/7f7Rk99NrcP1KvQl...

We enjoyed it, not a traditional LOL sitcom, some of it is quite uncomfortable.

The last episode made us cry a little.

If you approach this as a comedy, it can disappoint. Think of it as thoughtful, deep with some laughs and it's much better. When the laughs come they are good.

It’s about as shallow as it gets?

Totally agree with this.

I thought the final episode was great.

He's a tortured genius, everyone else is a stupid, self centred pratt.

Repeat, ad nauseum.

End.

Indeed.

Full of one dimensional characters to the extreme in series three, where Gervais is still where he was at the start of episode one. That's until he meets some deus ex machina kids with cancer and has an epiphany where he's suddenly changed in time for the end.
Sounds like you watched every episode though?

Oh, I did quite enjoy it. But there’s zero praise due to any part of the series.

It was ‘emotion by numbers’. I’d have been embarrassed to to put it out.

I think people let "Gervais hate" cloud their views. Derek was a work of beauty and After life is the same. I think he's a deeply talented writer and actor possibly one of the best of our generation. It's a truly brilliant series and I was ruined after the last episode. Despite being a very powerfully built company director and PH member its bringing a tear to my eye just recalling it. Utterly brilliant.

For me it’s totally unbelievable rubbish, I can’t buy into it and can’t imagine how writing this bad could spark emotion in anybody. The kids with cancer scene…. Oh come off it!

For what it’s worth I think series 1 of the office UK is in the top 3 TV shows of all time

I took the kids with cancer scene as the thing that kicked him out of his spiralling depression, realising he didn't actually have it so bad after all. Kind of a positive moment for him.

That’s a childish reply.

I’m another who thought the series as a whole is an excellent piece, although S3 not quite as good as S1/2

it’s a pity Roisin Conaty’s character didn’t make a reappearance

Gervais really can't act can he,the most wooden of performers
I switched off midway through episode 3 where, ironically, the last line spoken was "this is absolutely fking awful"
Sums it up perfectly

I don't think S2 and S3 added anything to the excellent S1. I think he should have left it there.

Finished S3, not as good as S1 or 2 in my opinion.
