That dog's lovely, I wonder if it's Ricky's own they seem to get on so well together....or else it's been really well trained
Apparently not, google threw up a couple of results, including Graham Norton saying it wasn’t.

Obviously, we thought the same too.
It's not his - I listen to a Podcast called Walking the Dog and he speaks about it on there.

I finished watching season 2 last night and thought it was great. Funny, sad, poignant and philosophical. Very well written indeed.

I loved how two of the cast who had previously starred in an 80's sit-com got together again in a way that seemed like a natural follow up to that series smile Can't help wondering if that was deliberate.

I'd say it was very deliberate - the two characters in After Life were even called Anne and Paul. Gervais is known to be a huge fan of Ever Decreasing Circles.

Is he indeed ? ... I didn't know that. In that case, a brilliant little touch !

The actor and writer Ricky Gervais cited the series as one of his key influences, and following Briers' death said he would waive the repeat fees on The Office if they repeated Ever Decreasing Circles on BBC One.

Binged over 2 nights. Great stuff again, Gervais smashed it again IMO.

We did the same over 2 nights and we both thoroughly enjoyed it. Fantastically well written for sure.

Totally agree. Funny but pretty sad at the same time. Also genuinely well acted by Ricky Gervais.

I didn't watch season 1, can't remember why but the Mrs loved it.
We sat down to watch season 2 today, the time flew by and we smashed the who season.

I loved it, big fan of Ricky's sense of humour, I love the c word so that didn't bother me.
Yoga scene was hilarious.

And yes the dog is beautiful.

Part way through series 2.
I'm enjoying it but I really don't think Gervais is much of an actor. His expressions and tone don't change much whether he's sad or happy. He has a severe lack of emotional empathy.
The dog is the best actor in the show.

Gratitous use of the 'c' word in any show or film is lazy and doesn't add anything to the story
I don't think it was gratuitous at all. The Annette Crosbie rant 5 mins into Episode 1 was perfectly scripted.

It's been used in every episode, numerous times.
I can't recall the last time I heard a woman say it in the real world, it's a rare occurrence, even more so by elderly females

Finished the 2nd series now.
Thought it ran out of steam a bit in the last couple of episodes and the therapists character developed ridiculously.
There's talk of a 3rd series but I can't see where that could go to maintain audience interest.
1st series was very good though

Binge watched the 2ns season over the weekend. Although it wasn't as funny as season 1, I thought it was very good. Certainly pulled at the heart strings on many occasions.

I'm not a massive fan of RG but I applaud his script and acting on After Life for sure!

It's one of Gervais's favourite comedy themes, people acting in a way that you don't expect. The whole of Extras was built on it, Moira Stewart as a drug deal and Ronnie Corbett as the addict, both playing themselves. Ross Kemp the coward, etc, etc. You don't expect Annette Crosbie, a well respected elderly actress, to drop the C bomb. That's why it's funny. I swear if Thora Hird was alive, he'd talk her into playing crack ho!

I read (Or saw) an interesting interview with him about how well he got along with the dog and how sad he was to leave it at the end of filming. I’ll see if I can find it. Definitely wasn’t his though.

The outtakes from S.2 are worth a watch, especially them all at the pub: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AAeGQKVMyMY
