I took it to be a rhetorical question.

It's a statement ... if it were a question the words would be in a different order so Doofus was correct. (IMHO)

I’m at a loss to understand why a company that’s obviously doing ok feels the need to use “volunteers” to help prep the cars and assist at the sale. Unless they get use of a tasty car.
If people work, they should be paid.
Occurred to me too. Unless by 'volunteers' they mean 'volunteers'.

Derek obviously loves his work but I do wish he’d stop saying it’s the best job in the world and every car he likes is a gem and they don’t make them like that anymore. Perhaps I’m being picky but it’d be good to see a bit more of his two sons and their input. Can’t help thinking they just do as they’re told

My dad passed this morning and i will watch the show tonight with a stiff drink in hand.

I am in bits but he is at peace now i suppose.

Of all the cars he had he would always bang on about his anglia . I suppose it was special as he courted my mum in that car and they travelled all over in it.
So bangers and cash will be my tonic tonight.
I’ve just properly caught up with my Dad today for the first time in a few days.

One thing that came up was this show and in particular the Police car which is one than he actually drove during his time in Durham constabulary.

It caused something in me to recall your post here. All my favourite Dad memories are somehow car related and that never dies out. I hope your own good memories can outweigh the loss you must feel.
DavidC1 - Very sorry to hear your bad news and I hope you and your family are doing well in the circumstances. I think your point about him being in peace is important.

Chrishum - my father has alzheimers; it's amazing how well he can remember and understand certain specific things. Nothing about cars but he can watch a cricket match and understand exactly what's happening. All except which teams are playing, the names of players, where the ground is, which day of the test it is ....... etc etc. But he knows a good ball or a good shot when he sees it, the finer points of LBW decisions, how a captain should place his field, when you should or shouldn't ask a team to follow on ........ etc etc.

There's no doubt who those lads dad is. They all sound and act so similar. Nice how they all work together so well too. I have worked for my dad before and it was a nightmare laugh

Why is it that you can never find a spelling policeman when you want one?

Good for you.
My old man was the same, he pretty much said those words to me 2 days before he passed away.

The grammar police have perhaps realised that it's really not that important. :-)
