The Rover would have tempted me; a few updates and it would make a great daily driver, with less licence threatening ability than my current one.
I have been around for a long time, but didn't realise that Mini Pick ups were avaiable as late as 1982. The last time I recall seeing one running was in the mid 1970s.
Well done gents; another entertaining show; I sincerely hope that it, and your business survives the current situation.

The Gold Seal engine in the Mini was described as an "option". Not so sure about that - wasn't that the trade name for replacement reconditioned motors? They were almost certainly built to better standards...........

Yep, over the counter BMC replacement reconditioned is correct. Not an 'option' at all.
There was a Silver Seal available as well.

The Gold and Silver Seal names were carried over to the latter Unipart operation as well. Gold Seal units had more brand new parts in them and were for cars up to 5 years old, Silver Seal were used on 5 years and over...except for MG's.

I think they just said it was the head, not the complete engine that was gold seal.

That Rover would have got my hand in the air that's for sure. It looked to have an oil drip onto the showroom floor but on face value as seen on the show it could have been either finished properly with the flat and polish plus a bit of rattling here and there, or just used. Would have to organise a dehumidified garage though to keep it in the manner accustomed.

That pick up would eventually make a good autotest car. Cries of sacrilege.

Needed more than a flat and polish.
The panels were all over the place and it was obvious by the photos the restoration was enthusiastic diy standard rather than professional.
Methinks that car could be hiding a multitude of sins

Please don't shout at me.

I have been trying to find out who owns Mathewsons and on what basis. I have had a look at Companies House, but without any results that made any sense.

Any ideas? It's just a healthy curiosity, that's all.

Afternoon all,

I hope you are well.

It's the last episode of Series 2 of Bangers & Cash tonight at 8pm.

So, after the NHS clap, please watch if you can - and I really hope you enjoy sharing the sunshine, the cars and a bit of fun from a simpler time.
Please do share this with your friends - it all helps.

Cheers - and good health.

From memory, £5.5K. The buyer sold it immediately afterwards.

Nice that I can call up my dad in his 90's and he reminds me to watch B&C after the clapping. The old guys who restore them seem such a nice bunch, that guy S1 E5 who sold one and came back with a minor from memory, just hilarious, just seemed so happy.
