It's Dutch, and the vowel pronunciation is closer to 'plus' than 'plas'.

Good points.

I was pleased the Alvis fetched good money. Derek is correct that interest in pre-war stuff is fading as prospective buyers are getting too old. You've only got to look at the Fast Ford phenomenon. It's all a bit sad IMHO. I know which car I'd rather own, but then I'm 72.
Indeed, it was good to see it doing well - even if the seller was a sarky sod, I wouldn't have been quite so passive as Derek if he'd said that to me. I was pleased to hear Lagonda mentioned along with Bentley, Riley and Alvis etc. wink
Yes, that Alvis was lovely. The seller was obnoxious; I wonder if Derek would have been so polite if the cameras hadn’t been there smile
Agree with all of the above. Have a real fancy for a pre war car like an A7 or 50's MG but the reality is probably not what I'd want to drive.

Did the massive house at the end belong to the man who bough the R107 SL? Or was it a place open to the public? He was saying about not being able to afford a Pagoda but was driving round the grounds of that place.
Looked like the large estate near Catterick which is subdivided into cottages and flats. William Hague had a place here for a while. Brough Hall

Derek: "We're selling dreams".

I had similar drama of owning something similar and then I drove a Singer Le Mans. No thanks.

I can never quite figure out which of Derek's grandsons are Paul's and which are Dave's sons.

Charlie is Paul's son.
Jack is Dave's son.

You kind of get the feeling that it is Charlie who is going to throw himself into the business as a lifelong thing.

I mean, maybe I'm wrong or it is all just telly and a narrative the producers are pushing, I dunno, but he seems to be the one who lives and breathes it.

Dave shares the rostrum, & Charlie seems pretty competent on the phone bids... but no doubt will rise to the challenge in the near future.
Paul & Jack seem happy as ‘behind the scenes’ type guys.

Jordan is Jack’s mate IIRC. Not family. You sometimes see Dave’s daughter there too I believe, on auction days.

Don't think so, pretty Dave just has a son and a daughter (who also can be seen often manning the phone bids)

Who’s that in his rally Escort in the opening credits...
( It was also featured in a previous series).

So, wait, are ANY of the people who work for them not part of the family?

Apart from Rowley "Bubbles" Birkin, I mean. hehe
