I agree with the general thinking that the earlier E-Types were the best looking, faired in headlamps, triple wipers but for me the coupe is far nicer than the convertible. The modern Fords just pass me by. It's obviously an age thing but I was never into 'Fast Fords' in period, they just seemed a bit cheap with their plastic interiors and they still seem that way to me now. Sorry to offend you youngsters
I think the E type coupe would be my choice, but not the 2+2, which is not an elegant car imolornemalvo said:

Yep, couldn't live with a 2+2 E-Type, they just look so wrong, all upright like that and with that verticle front screen. Nearly bought a 1962 3.8 Coupe in the early '90s, Opalescent Blue Metalic with grey interior. Nicely used and not restored at a Sandown Park classic car day.
Think it was £12k or so which would have meant selling our V8 and 1800 MGs, so we didn't go for it. I still think about that glorious Jag and how briliant it looked.
As kid growing up in the sixties, the E-Type was the poster car for a car mad kid.....until in 1970 I saw and heard a Cobra being given the beans not far from the AC factory.....and then all the Jag posters were removed from the wall, and I've been a yank V8 fan ever since.
Will always have a soft spot for an old Jag though, as had many a ride in Met.Police S-Type's in period, and next door neighbour when I was a kid had a Mk.X and one of my Dad's brothers had a Mk.2 for a while in the late 60's.
V12 E-Type's do nothing for me though.....'orrible things. Would rather a XJ12C than a V12 E-Type.

Needs elaboration. My first ever car ride at how ever many days old I was, was in the back of a Met.Police Wolseley 6/110 when Dad and his driver collected my Mum & I from the maternity hospital.

I went to Surbiton GS in Thames in the late 60s and that’s when I first heard a Cobra and saw it a couple of seconds later and it was for me a moment I’ll never forget. I was never a great fan of the EType beforehand preferring the DB4/5 and seeing this beast didn’t help although I think a Lightweight E is a thing of beauty. Said it was a 20k Car, When new too, which I’m sure it wasn’t! £19995 in 2002 so you’re right.
