Derek is losing it. That 250 SWB copy was gopping. I saw one at a local show last year with chromed Borrani-style wheels and replica Ferrari ventilated seats. Properly done, even if I could see from a mile away it wasn't "proper" but lots of people took photos.

The Mathewsons car has Z3 wheels and seats. Nice dashboard though.
I've not seen the show, yet, but I'm guessing that it will be based on a Z3. It will be either a Mirage or a Tribute.

My garage may hint at how I know wink

Yes, it's a Tribute based on a Z3 1.9

It's very nicely done, but a shame about the limp engine.

I quite liked it. Was a bit surprised at the estimates but thought it looked nice for the money paid.

The “Ferrari” wasn’t for me, but the chap who bought it clearly loves it and will get a lot of daily enjoyment from it, and I suppose that’s all that matters.

We had a 1.9 z3 for years, cracking engine in my opinion. Loves to rev, @130/140hp from memory? Thought the tribute looked really good.

That was yer man Bubbles talking tractors just now, wasn't it?
And by God yes wasn't he boring. My arse nearly dropped off.
But he had a better idea of the tractor values than the person who decided the reserve!!

That Figaro - ste.
The Tribute looked OK but like most Countach replicas, everyone knows they're fake.

Had to rewind the last 15 mins as fell asleep. Losing interest in the prog TBH.

I am enjoying the new series. Makes a nice evening's viewing if you switch to the Warbird thing on More 4 afterwards.

Maybe we over-think these 'replicas,' 'fakes' or whatever you call them. IMHO that 250 was a very pretty kit car, well executed (as far as I could see).
I would be very proud to own it, 'specially since I am never likely to get within a million miles of owning the real thing.

The Figaro was a sad old thing. Cobble it through an MOT then enjoy a swan song in it for a year or so before it goes for parts. That's why I was surprised at how much money it made.

Loved that little BMC tractor - Who needs a Quad bike indeed?

Clearly it’s not going to fool anyone with knowledge of classics, but it seems the chap enjoyed building it and fair play to him.

Bit I didn’t understand, why use a 1.9 as base, when there is a 3.0 available.

I can understand the Figaro owner liking retro things. She looked a bit like a 1960's throwback with her black and white Mod dress.

Have to say, not a great B&C this week....they are blowing hot n cold this new series.

The guy who did the fake Fezza has been on an earlier series of B&C when he coloured changed a brown P6 Rover 2000 to white for his daughters wedding, and then put it through B&C again afterwards.

The Warbirds Workshop on CH18 afterwards following TFC's build up to last years Flying Legends (and likely the last ever Legends) was far more interesting.

I liked the red Tribute car, but I think this is how it should have been done. The larger engine, the seats and particularly the wheels make a huge difference.

I suspect the longer engine would give bonnet clearance issues.

I thought they previously had the donkey brown Rover then resprayed it white for a wedding, I recognised his wife.

As for his Z3, not for me, it’s no different to wearing snide clothing. He tried really hard not to have it called a kit car yet the parts came as a kit that he bolted onto a donor chassis.

Is it that some people just want to be on tv, there’s been a few pop up time and again now.

Tbh I'd rather have the Z3. I've never understood why people wear snide clothing, watches, jewellery etc

I preferred the red one, but agree, seats were the one thing that needed changed. I'd have one in a heartbeat

I don't know how people can put a 'Ferrari' badge on something that just isn't- it's a BMW, and will always be a BMW.

Even the guy who bought it seemed like he was trying too hard to convince us IMO- what you've got there mate is a fairly gutless shopping car with a pretend fancy body on it. Woo.

Every week I play a game where I have to choose one of the cars shown- this week, I honestly didn't want a single one of them. The show is just becoming background to me now.

I've never seen/heard anyone used the word snide to mean fake before, and here's two !
The thing with fakes/replicas/tributes whatever you want to call them, you'd like 1 but can't afford an original, what you supposed to do ? Go without because some people call you out ? Nah fk that ,the fake 250 looked a whole lot more interesting than a Z3 and would fool 99% of the population so I'm in favour.
You're unlikely to have ever see a real one the street unless you lived near to Nick Mason or Chris Evans

It had the Tribute badge on it, the new owner made the point that he's not trying to pass it off as anything else. Reqlly don't see the problem. It actually looked like a nice car, decent proportions, nice interior. Still, each to their own.
