Unfortunate this week that a few of the robots were taken out in one hit, or didn't work from the start. Still, the main event and Monsoon vs Valkyrie were good. Chronos vs Copperhead was always going to be a show with the spinner weapons hitting each other.

In other sort of related news, Youtube algorithms are labelling robot combat videos as animal cruelty and removing them https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qMQ5ZYlU3DI

Ace.
Lockjaw
Tombstone
Cobalt
That's 3 fights guaranteed to be brutal. Makes up for duck vs. Squeeze bot which will be a good time to put the kettle on.

Some good battles in that episode. The main event, especially, is a corker.

Hehe, yep, a few surprises in that one !

Regrading the Tombstone / Gruff match, when they showed the scorecard, both bots had been awarded 1 (out of 3) for aggression, which, TBH did surprise me.
It got me thinking: what would stop a judge awarding the same number of points overall to give a draw ?
I can't recall a judge ever awarding a draw, and now I'm think that maybe they're not allowed (?)

Obviously having 3 judges avoids a drawn match if all 3 must give a winner/loser

Apologies if this has been discussed to death previously !!

3 points damage
2 control
2 aggression.

They give each point to 1 or the other bot. Can't have a draw because 7 points total smile

Thanx for this smile

The bit I missed was that the points for each category is the total number of points, not, the max number of points for each bot

Reading the rules, it appears they mark you down if you ram the other bot without using a weapon

Battlebots have posted this picture for the next episode, they haven't said which robots are involved, but something is going to fly...

Cobalt were not doing themselves any favours, I really hope they get to the round of 16.

Not sure about making Bronco v Huge the main event. I can't see Bronco being able to get any purchase to flip Huge; Huge suffers from the lack of a solid base to really cause proper damage with their spinner, and Bronco is probably strong enough to take a lot of hits from it.

Witch Doctor v Gigabyte would, to me, be a better bet... assuming neither breaks down on its own wink

Huge took Gigabytes weapon out by causing enough damage that the shell bent and jammed so it certainly can cause damage, look at the pictures earlier in this thread.

I suspect that the Bronco flight has added significance as they are winless and in danger of going out.

I'd forgotten about that already... I'm afraid Huge is permanently tagged as "floppy" in my head...

Interesting to see Minotaur still in, I thought they lost the last chance competition and were eliminated.

Desperado was just for 1 of the 8 to get to the last 16, the others carry on with the regular rounds.

Also has the benefit that it's wins in the Desperados tournament help if towards a good finishing record.

Easily done. I too was really surprised to see how much damage Huge had done to Gigabyte. It's hard to tell with the added sound effects Battlebots put over the top of the real audio.

I love how huge is different, and effective. Spinners are awesome, and I will never forget when Hypnodisc properly destroyed other kids robots on Robot Wars, but spinner after spinner starts to get a little boring. Mind you, Huge, is in deed a spinner!, just a "death from above" spinner.

Still don't undertsand why people bother with axe/hammer bots.

Was great to see the UK "biting bot" finally get it's teeth stuck into duck. As they said, their robot is a perfect sandwich size :-)
