+1 Every "dance" Mike performs is a comedy routine. Lots of energy and arms flapping about. So 10/10 for effort but 3 or 4 out of 10 for actual dancing.
I totally agree. He has just enough dancing ability to carry it off. yes

Well look, thanks for posting, but could I ask you to ask your better half for me, because I really don't get it.

As far as I can see, Mike Bushell was barely dancing. His routine was just a mix of stomping around with some jumping up and down thrown in. I'm no dancer at all, but I can dad dance with the best of them. Seriously, give me a week and I could stomp around in time to the music like Bushell, no problem at all. I might struggle to remember the routine in it's entirety, but I reckon there were no moves in that routine that any dad-dancer couldn't do.

Now I know Emma was not a contender for the finals, but she was dancing, and dancing in a way that I know I could never achieve. Same for the other Emma too. Both are fit women, I'm an unfit 60 year old, I could never emulate either, but I could match Bushell's stomping given a week of training. (I can already stomp). I mean, there was barely *any* dancing in his routine at all. He got 2x eights! What for?

This has really quite spoilt the series for me this year (I'm a big fan smile ) It seems the judges have taken a disliking to two fit, elegant ladies and I'm blowed if I can see why.

Honestly, I'd really appreciate an explanation from a dancer such as your better half, if you/she wouldn't mind. smile
Her reply , Emma's dance not fluid .and arms flung out as opposed to flowing out ,
Mike better because the Charlston suited his stature and he was goofy which the dance required .
Next week , well who knows

Let's not forget Katya seems perhaps the best pro at making a poor dancer look great...

Neil Jones on the other hand, has for me 'shown up' his celeb in their dances - almost looking so good himself she doesn't look good in comparison.

Is there an understanding of the 'ranking' of the pros as competitive dancers?

I believe 'the official rankimg from the Strictly website had them as follows:

1. Oti
2. Dianne
3. Nadiya
4. Amy
5. Luba
6. The other women
7. Some men

The guys did a brilliant dance, I won't deny that, it's the 21st century, we have same sex marriage, there's nothing wrong with same sex dancing. I'm in a hetero marriage, but each to their own, I won't knock them for it. wink
It's a dance competition though not a date. The couple's are not paired up by their sexual compatibility. It's no different to any other mixed sport.

In real life same sex couples dance together, have relationships, get married etc. It's all perfectly normal. Depicting same sex couples on TV is also completely normal. Nobody would be shocked if a same sex couple in a soap danced together, nor would it be seen as some sort of watershed.

Unless a gay contestant specifically asks/prefers to dance with someone of their own gender then having a same sex couple dance on the show just seems to be done for the woke reasons,

I've no idea if the two guys that danced were actually gay, if they were then it's just two blokes dancing. If not then it's quite patronising.

I believe that Johannes is gay but the other dancer Graziano is heterosexual.

Am I right in thinking we have not yet had the usual "They have had proffesional dance lessons before" claims

Karim has been mentioned a few times for that but otherwise it's been pretty quiet on that front...

Karim’s marks seemed high after all the criticism. I liked Amy’s dress though.

I've made a mistake playing the Strictly drinking game haven't I? If they don't stop saying "Blackpool" I'll be hammered before half of them have danced!

I'm not a big AJ fan, but I thought their waltz was very good.

Enjoyable show tonight with some very good dances. Bushell is so far behind the others now it’s untrue, hopefully this is now his last week. Thought Karin was going to cry, those ridiculous sleeves on Amy’s dress spoilt the dance by tangling the two up all the way through. Had to laugh at Emma’s dance though with Shirley giving praise afterwards through very gritted teeth.

I thought Mike did a credible effort and recovered well from his mistake (really fumbled to take Katiya's hand at one point) but he wasn't awful.

Having said that, I predict he'll be in the dance off tomorrow.
