Yes, that's a bit odd. I judge jade as about 22/23.

The only way this makes sense is that Jade was born around 2000 (I assumed she was 20) when John Stape was about 22 - this was about 7 years before he appeared in Corrie, so he obviously must have already had a 7 year old kid when he had Hope with Fiz.

I googled this and saw a news article on this very subject that said Fiz and John first met in 1996 when he was 19.
