I have a decent Samsung smart TV. It already has the Netflix and iPlayer links on it. Do you think the Disney+ app will appear automatically or after an update?
Don't know, depends on Disney and the TV for the TV apps, they are already streaming in the US and Netherlands, link below might be out of date.

US forum on the subject will have more I suppose.

I will probably be using my Apple TV, my LG is four years old now but initial mentions were for add on boxes.
Philips Android TVs will get the app, not sure about any other Android TVs or non Android Smart TVs.

Worth it for £4.16 a month in my opinion, if nothing else my 5 year old will get use out of it never mind all the Star Wars/MCU stuff.

What's the difference between 4k/HDR10/HDR? Is it all 4k, but recieved in different formats or just done in a different way, or is HDR10/HDR more definition that goes beyond 4k?
Can o worms.

HDR is a generic term covering many versions of a method to display a greater range of colour that is bolted to the basic 4k recording or live stream, bit more to it than that.

Your eye can see a certain colour range. The film format may capture all that but less able panels cannot display it but someone editing the film can grade it, stick on a metadata file to tell the display "here you go" and a capable panel will use it to better display the range of colours.

Some panels don't do HDR and cannot display the fuller range, capable panels can use it to their fuller potential. A 4k panel with no HDR will see the metadata, won't know what to do with and strip it. You get a base 4k picture.

HDR10 is the usual suspect, it is open source. You then get manufacturer specific such as Dolby Vision or HDR10+, PQ10, HLG and a few others. Problem is when someone says HDR (looking at you BT) no one knows what version it is but assume it is HDR10, not all devices can show all the versions. Dolby probably draws a premium for inclusion in the hardware and software and that means it doesn't tend to make the cheaper panels I think.

Edit. Probably missed something in there and got bits wrong.

Concerns that Simpsons might be missing possibly due to existing deals (Sky primary and CH4 secondary).

Which is a sod seeing as all I ever seem to see listed are repeats. Wont have Sky.

Looking at some of the tweets, people are antsy over this, where is that simpsons pitchfork crowd gif.

I'm very tempted to sign up for this - except, I don't know what I'll be able to stream it on. For my current setup, there needs to be a Disney+ app for Amazon Fire TV - when I google, it seems that this does exist in areas it's already launched - but it's not available for download here yet.

Feels a bit odd signing up for a streaming service when I'm not sure I'll actually be able to use it.

No app yet either for my preferred (Apple TV, it is in use the US on the ATV) though I expect it when it arrives in the UK. 24th it starts, I expect it to get nuts and bog down initially and will probably leave it a few days.

My only concern is the 14 day cooling off in the T+C. I am not sure when it starts, sign up date or day it starts? Bear that in mind, I was tempted to leave it until inside 14 days myself but I know I am going to get this.

Hmm - interesting point. I think I'll sign up closer to the time!

Just in case, I also expect the 4k to require a decent download speed. Apple TV 4k hovers around 26+ as does BT sport. Not sure if they are going to do a Netflix and hobble it at 15. Might have a mooch at the US forums later to see what rates they are getting. Something Disney+ UK can answer I suppose.

Signed up, ready to indoctrinate my kids hehe

FYI it works fine on a VPN, so if you've setup a UK account, you can flip on your VPN and gorge yourself on the mandalorian rather than waiting week by week when its released here..

Sky bundle deal done. No HDR on sky. Sky looks to get first dibs on 20th Century Studios releases?
https://www.forbes.com/sites/johnarcher/2020/03/03...

Not that I would get Sky anyway.
