Apparently there are major Star Wars spoilers in Mandalorian. The chances of avoiding those between social media, podcasts etc is next to zero for that long.
Really frustrating, I get that Sky have lots of existing content so they need to chat to expire first, but why not launch with the new stuff anyway. I'm sure plenty of people would pay up just to get the new shows for a few months.
Think this has had a mention before regarding existing contracts. EU release due more to local content requirements was one reply? I can see someone doing a deal with company X but seems strange they would write their own ownership out.Really frustrating, I get that Sky have lots of existing content so they need to chat to expire first, but why not launch with the new stuff anyway. How do you guys plan to watch this? Is it going to be something I can get through the smart TV, streamed through the Virgin Box, or PS4?
I need to try and find out the price too and if it's a "sign up for a year at a time" thing, or like NowTV where you can sign up to it on a rolling monthly basis and cancel whenever you like.

I will be using the Apple TV. It does 4k very well and I expect Disney to use the rates through the app. I am assuming that, I have not read it anywhere yet. I would guess that BT and Virgin and Sky would be on board as well though from experience BT usually takes months to realise something else is happening.
The US and Netherlands price looks good if translated to UK and there were three year tie in deals that seemed quite good but that was for the US launch only. Hope to see similar here, I signed up for info just in case. I understand the monthly is when you want, meaning binge away then stop for a while. We need to see the offers particular to the UK though.

The impression I got was that the US launch bundle was largely to buy in a customer base so the numbers look good. I'll be curious to see if they do the same in the UK - 3 quid a month is difficult to say no to.The US and Netherlands price looks good if translated to UK and there were three year tie in deals that seemed quite good but that was for the US launch only. I presume there's a very good reason why there isn't a global launch. It must be rights. Disney will be throwing away a very, very large amount of custom by doing it this way.
I have heard a few reasons. Rights deals will have a load in them, I am not sure they would deny themselves anything but unless we can see what is in the Sky contract, who knows. Another mention was the EU and must have local content (someone else in this thread).Edited by Zirconia on Tuesday 12th November 16:15

That and it appears that the servers are struggling with the load.bloomen said:

I was getting errors a couple of hours ago, but the seem to have resolved themselves right now.
i'm assuming that if we are paying for it, then it cannot be illegal. - please delete mods if it is?
some people are going via iTunes netherlands VPN - create an apple account in netherlands, load it up with a gift card, then use that to pay for disney+ and watch via apple TV
I'm assuming it might be possible to do similar but with paypal - VPN to netherlands , create paypal account in netherlands, transfer from UK to NL paypal account, pay for Disney+ using NL paypal account?
i might try it on a free VPN and see how far i get before subscribing to a more stable VPN

36 mins, that's when the credits roll. Lame.
I guess the concept of fitting shows to TV schedules is out of the window now with streaming. I'd rather a faster paced show at whatever length the director felt was necessary than padding out 46 minutes for the sake of it (he says, burned by many episodes of Walking Dead).Gassing Station | TV, Film, Streaming & Radio | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
