Perhaps they could be considered to be in the US. I can't recall any strong accents myself.

It was a bit distracting the way not everyone got them and then sometimes not even for the full segment of speech. I did like the breakout captions where they translated words into American English and Welsh though - that was a clever way of doing it.

A quick thanks to those who recommended Welcome to Wrexham. We have Disney+ on a very cheap deal which was purchased with the children in mind. Thanks to your recommendations I discovered the default age settings were set to exclude “grown up stuff” and thus had no idea Welcome to Wrexham was a thing. Really enjoying it.

The subtitles thing is mildly funny to a Brit since the accents are so slight to my ears but the show was made very much with the US in mind. We have American relatives who visit often and it is a surprise how frequently they need me to repeat what has been said by another as they find it hard to tune in to unfamiliar voices.

As a football fan, who grew up just over the border from Wrexham in England, I used to go drinking in Wrexham a lot.

I was a little dissapointed with the series, it seems quite rushed, would of been better spread over a longer period and 10 episodes or 8.

?? There are 18 episodes, the last thing I thought of was 'rushed', even going off on little side stories like supporters cancer treatment, relationship breakdowns etc.

Maybe some needless content for UK folk (although the Wales episode was very amusing), but perfectly understandable given the global audience.

I've just watched it, was enjoyable but very Hollywood and maybe a touche too cheesy at times. Shame they didn't get the result as that would have been icing on the cake.

It is. The UK is a much smaller potential audience.

If you're from the UK then you're going to be in tune with regional accents but if you're from the US its much harder, especially as it's real people in real life settings, not a movie with multiple takes etc.

I've been really enjoying it and didn't know if they got the result as I'm not a football fan! Knowing this now won't spoil the last few episodes though.

Edit, finished it tonight, what a really good series, really enjoyed that
