Slightly OT but I followed up on this - the Russians were heading off on an 18,000 mile trip to the Pacific to try and quash Japanese intentions in Manchuria. They got an absolute shoeing instead:

It is in one of my great ship battles type of book I had as a kid (1974). Amazingly I remembered that bit.

There weren't quite as many songs or musical numbers as I remember either. Jeff Wayne will be spinning in his grave spin
He was looking quite well last December in Cardiff conducting his show.

Tried catchup on number 2 last night. What is it with the pick axes, are they made of glass?

Too much amiss for me to stay with it.

Might fast forward through the bits tonight.

What were they digging at/for in the camp anyway?
Graves or carrots? Bit like the case in Ronin perhaps?

Last used a pickaxe when I was an apprentice to be honest but you needed to get your swing right and hit the ground with purpose or it went no where. Of course a lot better when they let me loose on the pneumatic drill.

I could probably get interested if stuff like loading the canon (and other swamp stuff) was not so poorly set up. Also the town square.

I did come into this with an open mind and am willing to accept the way the script is going, sort of. But little things grate on me and there are too many little things.

Liking the tripods though.

Oh no, a military buff [oon] has breached the security cordon.

The dandruff and the smell of marzipan and WD40 is a dead giveaway.

I ran it through the universal translator and it came up blank?

Got to the end on catch up. It was a slog. I can manage the way the version went to a point but the last episode was a drag. Telescope got me going again.

3/10.
