the torture is not to be them watching their own stuff then?
I did consider that, but rethought it and decided torture may have been a bit over the top, so changed it to beating.

I had mentally composed my opinion of this series but most of the sentiments and words have been posted already ! biggrin

Turds, sacking of idiots, bad cgi, terrible prosthesis, time line , history blah blah

Whoever commissioned this needs to go back to a theatre..... Sweeping the stage.

Next level of ste tonight! wtaf were they thinking! I'm all for trying new ways of telling a well known story but this just didn't work. I could go on and on but best just to move on and try to forget it :/

What a waste of 3 hours that was frown The arrogance of assuming they could write a 'better' version than the original is infuriating. I would rather have re-watched the Cruise version.

Why why why did I watch it? Worst TV I've watched for a long time.

I can honestly say the page after page of negative, scathing reviews on IMDB simply don't reflect what a complete stinker that this is. I mean during last weeks we had a poster saying they were enjoying it FLOL. I suppose Mrs Brown's Boys is liked by some though...

Agree with another poster when they say that is the worst TV show that has been on in a very long time. Laughably bad if I hadn't really actually been looking forward to it. Oh dear. How can you mess up, a story that Aliens coming to Earth, smashing it up and then them dying.

The last time I was this annoyed, I was watching the Hitch-Hikers film...shudder.

Does anyone care what happens to the characters?
It’s hard to believe it could be this bad. But it is.
Agree. What a pitiful waste of CO2 this series is.

I mean, i wanted to enjoy it but i'm with most other people here wondering WTAF.

I get the reasons behind giving the writing a modern twist by relating it to things that are currently happening in the world, having stronger female characters, etc, but the latter parts of EP3 seemed as though it was just a case of every writer being given a segment to chuck something in hoping it would be a catch all to sell it to various world markets & cover all bases. I think we had yes to God / no to God / maybe to God, science is good / science is bad / maybe science is 50-50, climate change, human war & conflict being similar to the invasion, etc.

Although i think we surely had all guessed what would happen with the final build up to the end credits scene? hehe

Then there's the stretching of reality.

Episode 1 - Woking / Weybridge. Episode 2 - On the coast (Kent i think wasn't it). Episode 3 - suggested it's now back inland at the hostel after the escape from the beach. But after George's sacrifice & the escape scene, we're clearly still right next to the beach. But even so, the next scene has us right back at the original house in Woking where George left a note and there'd been no looting / house still standing, etc? hehe

How exactly did she get back there so easily, quickly and without getting caught out by more Martians on the way? Also, again given the time period it's set in, i would have thought her pregnancy would have far more likely ended badly (such as a miscarriage) - given all the Martian shizz going on and the stress, etc.

Yes i know it's not real, but the writing towards the end of EP3 is a real WTF hehe

Didn't watch it. Was going to do so on iPlayer.

Perversely I'm actually more temped to do so because the reviews on here are so bad.

I need to see for myself just how bad it is, if that makes sense.

Call it morbid curiousity.

The overseas version of this adaptation was 60 minutes longer. Another 60 minutes of grimacing faces looking to the sky and lamenting how evil our empire used to be.
I would love to know what this cost to make and how much it was sold for to other networks for.

Who'd have thought the Tom Cruise version wouldn't be the worst modern version any more?

Is this a very clever thing to say, or a stupid one?
