Which war films do you like?

All Quiet , Das Boot , Downfall , Life is Beautiful, Grave of the Fireflies come to mind , . Long time since I saw it, but despite the John Wayne content , D Day was terrific , thanks to lots of archive footage . Slightly more left field, Catch 22 and the wonderful JoJo Rabbit . As a kid I loved Battle of Britain , but it may have been Susannah York in uniform related
Jo Jo Rabbit is a much under-rated film, it is fantastic.

The last time I , sniff, cried in a cinema was during JJR's closing sequence , the scene sound-tracked by Bowie's Heroes . It is an exquisite film which I thought was even more deserving of an Oscar for best film than (the admittedly terrific) winner , Parasite

Yes I rate it but its too entertaining for its subject matter in the 21st century Odd how Mel Brooks could do similar things in the late 1960s to the 80s with no protest.
And there would have been more people that experienced the war years back then.
We do exist in the era of fake outrage of course.
