I did start a thread earlier but it was more about this being in 4k HLG if people have the means. BBC does very well at this with this type of content, the imagery is absolutely stunning.

You will need a device that works with BBC HLG and a fast broadband to stream out of iPlayer, and you need to delve into iPlayer settings to enable the Beta option to see the 4k stream. There is a test loop at the moment form a football match.

Had to turn it off as not suitable for our 8 year old despite being on at 6pm

It’s not easy going. Dave’s gone brutal in his old age. My wife made me change the channel.

Out of interest, which bits did you find not suitable for your 8 year old?

Certainly not cuddly but then that is what goes on and what faces them going forward from now.

Cracking filming though.

It's gone a bit Disney, ramping up the drama and pathos.

Great production values though.

The sea anemonies catching and killing the jelly fish was great to watch. I also liked the close up of the whale's eye.

Then the extra bit with the filming of the elephant seals fighting was quite amusing.

Really, how long do you shelter a kid about the food chain.

Three things from Ep 1

Great Photography

fking annoyingly awfully loud music and wailing choirs, Iy ISNT a hollyowood western at an impending shoot out
Either turn it down or turn Dave up

And if ( assuming i heard it correctly) commercial whaling is banned, then he mentions except Iceland,Norway and Japan, but add the rider for scientific purposes as Japan claims. Ans if it isnt why doesn't UNO do something?

The 8 year mentioned I sort of understand.

An adult? I don't get that at all.

It is Antarctica. It’ll be somewhere else next week.

Pointing out how humans are ruining the world isn’t brutal.

Commentary said it was knackered by then. Too tired to do anything else but some fight left in it. I was expecting the ice block to tip over or something.

Noticed the Orca's hunting in at least three's (there were 4?). Penguin doubling back between lead two and third Orca supposed to look out for that? Clever sods. I have seen the clips where they show real cunning and thought in hunting.

Started watching with our 4 year old but my wife didn’t think it was suitable for her, I thought it was still very good and tbh she will have to realise that animals kill each other at some point but relented and turned it off to watch again.

8 years old would be ok I think, and as an adult you should find it fascinating, these programs still blow my mind with what we get to see.

Thought it was stunning - and the clips from next week looked even better.

Lol.

Just send them out with a rifle down to the farm and tell them to make their own chicken nuggets. fks sake. 8 year olds are allowed to be sheltered, they are eight. Kids don't HAVE to be exposed to the brutalized world so soon. Let them be kids. I get that.

I'm an adult and I felt bad for the albatrosses frown lol.
