Lenny McLean, proper hardman.
Proper bully.
Those two comments just sent me off on a googling frenzy on underground boxing and gypsies.

Easy to see now where Guy Ritchie got his story from in snatch now r.e. The gypos caravan sale and subsequent fight that sets the whole tale in motion.

I read his autobiography. Lovable rogue who was clearly a bd lol.

Reminds me of when they used Frankie Frazer in the BBC comedy series operation good guys. Looks funny etc when I read into him (never heard of him before that) realised he was a complete bd.

You'll all be pleased to know Guy Ritchie has made a new gangster film, The Gentleman, looks good, out next year.

Ummm Interesting!

I like the offices, although that BMW might be a candidate for the 'badly modified cars' thread.

Love the films mentioned.

What’s people’s view of “Gangster number 1”?
The scene with Eddie Marsan in the kitchen with the axe is fking faultless.

Look at me. Look at my eyes...
Didn’t he take inspiration for those scenes from the “Richardson’s” as in the South London brother gangsters from the 1960’s that put the Willies up the Krays.
Something along those lines yes, although in his last interview with Fred Dinenage Richardson (I forget which brother it was) played down the violence quite a bit. The best scene for me in 'Gangster No.1' is where when Paul Bettany's character goes to kill Jamie Foreman's Lennie Taylor, the way it's shot and played out has elements James Fox's character 'Chas' in Nick Roeg's 'Performance'.

Haven't seen 'Lock Stock...' for ages, must give it another whirl sometime. Never really enjoyed 'Snatch', not sure why.

I could watch 'Performance', 'The Long Good Friday', 'Villain', 'Get Carter' and 'Sexy Beast' every week and never get tired of them!

What about worst UK gangster film?

I nominate Hooligans at War North Vs South.
It's got a superb cast but is an absolute crock of dung.

Some great brit gangster flicks mentioned. Alongside LSaTSB I could re-watch; Layer Cake, Snatch, The Long Good Friday, Get Carter...I'm gonna have to look at wiki to refresh my memory to see if I'd add any to that lot. Even though it might not be classed as a gangster flick, The Guard has the same vibe to me. Possibly the General too (not sure if Ordinary Decent Criminal has aged well)

Read some of Bernard O’Mahoney’s stuff. If you want the truth about the Range Rover three, look him up.
