I was on The Chase a few years back and really hoped i'd like him when I met him. Wasn't disappointed at all. As soon as the cameras stop rolling he chats away like he's your mate. Asking questions and really showing interest in you as a person. Dead genuine, nice fella.

Hold on a minute.. you can just post ‘I was on the Chase’ without more info!
What did you get in the cash builder? Who was the chaser? Did you get through? Did you win? How much!

Haha - it was a classic case of sitting on the sofa watching the show with my kids saying "I could win this show etc etc" so they challenged me to apply.

I got £6k on the cash builder, all four of our team got the same. Chased by The Beast and got caught, purely down to panicking. What you don't see at home is, as soon as they press their answer, a timing bar starts to drop down the side of the screen and you forget everything you thought you knew and press anything!! Haha

It was a great day out though. The whole crew are superb.

I'm guessing you're Barry biggrin
If its the correct episode, being 1st up probably didn't help the nerves !
6 is actually a good score - it really depends what comes up
Good to hear you enjoyed it, not sure I would have the confidence to have a go

Overall, contestants have had a 1 in 4 chance of winning (recent bunch havn't been so good tho' - 1 in 7)

ps:
Does Mark really like to intimidate the contestants ?
(my mum really dislikes him !)

What impresses me most about Walsh - aside from the fact he seems to be a genuinely nice bloke - is the sheer diversity of his career (thanks, Wikipedia):

- Professional Footballer (albeit briefly due to injury and with few appearances)
- TV Presenter of one of TV's biggest game shows, plus 'Wheel of Fortune' and loads of others
- Proper Actor, with 8 series of 'Law & Order UK', 3 years on 'Coronation Street' & 'Doctor Who'
- Singer, with a Gold-certified Album, that reached No.10 in the Charts

Never mind all the reality TV & comedy stuff.

In an age when any old YouTube idiot can be a star, that's some proper old-school entertaining chops.

Don’t forget he started out as a comedian (see my earlier post) and he’s pretty good at that too.

I'd never heard of him until he appeared on the Royal Variety Performance, the same year as Joe Pasquale. He did a very good turn, although not quite as weird as Pasquale. I think has has a natural flair for communicating with his audience - I'd also put his quick wit and brainpower almost up at Bob Monkhouse levels,

I had no idea he'd been on Corrie but obviously I don't watch it.

The Chase....good

Cash Trapped......not so much.

Totally agree that the Chase is a very good quiz show , no matter how often you see it.
Cash Trapped is dire to be honest.

Considering that The Chase is broadcast at 5pm weekdays, does anyone else think the opening credits are a bit scary if viewed by young kids? The black-clad chaser with glaring red eyes, almost like some creepy guy chasing someone down the street. Does it really need to be that OTT?

I also wish to add that I'm getting a bit bored by the artificial threats from the chasers aimed at the contestants. It's just daft, means nothing, and nobody's "scared" so why bother?

I am indeed! Going first DEFINITELY did not help. I knew all bar one of my questions yet managed to answer at least two wrong.

Not sure how true it is but Bradley told us he doesn't even know which chaser is going to come out before they appear. Mark was perfectly fine with me.

You're a little contrary with your wanting to be scared, but not.

Had a quick look at the episode...
I got the same as you on your C/B Q's (sitting down comfy with mug of tea and ZERO pressure biggrin) so well done !

Anyway, back OT
As mentioned above, he's quite a multi-talented guy
I think he's influenced by Norman Wisdom type stuff and he's pretty good with impressions of him
Did watch 1st episode of him & his son going across USA in an RV, but didn't continue watching

Liked his joke:
People laughed at me when I told them I was going to be a comedian
Well! they're not laughing now!

Cash Trapped seems to be missing the simplicity element of most good game shows. It was on in the background the other day and I couldn't really work out what was happening, could just be me though

That's actually a Bob Monkhouse joke from about 30 years ago.

He's appeared on Sunday Brunch a few times and is always good fun. This puerile nonsense a couple of years ago always makes me laugh:

I’m currently sitting on the sofa watching an old Chase with my mum; she has dementia and it’s her favourite programme (closely followed by Tipping Point...); she loves Bradley Walsh so I am glad he’s a nice guy in real life (he certainly comes across that way). Thank god for Sky and repeats; I can keep her entertained for hours!
My Grandad also suffering, and The Chase is his go-to. Not sure what it is that appeals specifically, but interesting to know there's a parallel with at least one other person!

I was on the same table as him a few years ago at the Bar Mitzvah of a mutual friend. The table was composed of couples of who did not know each other and BW took it on himself to get everybody at their ease and to feel included. He then kept us entertained all evening, including with a sotto voce commentary on the rabbi's speech which was risking inducing full-blown narcolepsy on the assembled gathering. I found him thoroughly engaging and without side.

There was recently a reprise of a night with Bob Monkhouse or some such not long before he died. Essential (and funny!), even has Mike Yarwood (for the younger readers smile ).
